Happy New Year!

As believers we should be future-oriented. Forget the past and look to the future. We have all done things for which we are ashamed, and we live in the tension of what we have been and what we want to be. Because our hope is in Christ, however, we can let go of past guilt and look forward to what God will help us become. Don't dwell on your past. If you made a mistake in 2006, learn from it and move forward. Don’t dwell on every misstep, mistake, or stumble. Instead, grow in the knowledge of God by concentrating on your relationship with Him now. Realize that you are forgiven, and then move on to a life of faith and obedience. Look forward to a fuller and more meaningful life because of your hope in Christ. You have to let go of the past so that your hands are free to receive what God has for you in the future. It’s time to let go of 2006 so that 2007 can come in. It’s time for us to move and grow to another level of spiritual maturity. God has greater work for us to do in ...

The History of Watch Night Service

I received this via email and thought it was a good history of our Watch Night celebration. ~The History of Watch Night Service~ Many of you who live or grew up in Black communities in the United States have probably heard of "Watch Night Services," the gathering of the faithful in church on New Year's Eve. The service usually begins anywhere from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and ends at midnight with the entrance of the New Year. Some folks come to church first, before going out to celebrate. For others, church is the only New Year's Eve event. Like many others, I always assumed that Watch Night was a fairly standard Christian religious service -- made a bit more Afro centric because that's what happens when elements of Christianity become link...

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas! Remember that Jesus is the reason for this season and ALL seasons. For many, the Christmas season is a holiday filled with presents, lights, and family. They are not aware that Christmas gets its name from God’s gift to the world, Jesus Christ. The challenge for us as believers is to celebrate the birth of Jesus in a way that helps others know Jesus, the real man who walked on earth, and still transforms lives today. Christmas should bring excitement as we remember our Savior who was born in manger. Before Christ came, people could know God partially. After Christ came, people could know God fully because He became visible and tangible in Christ. Christ is the perfect expression of God in human form. Enjoy your Christmas with family and friends. And don't leave Christ out of your Christmas. “Christmas List” I had the nicest Christmas list, The longest one in town, 'Til Daddy looked at it and said, "You'll have to cut it down." I knew that w...

See the church calendar for changes to prayer meeting and Bible Study. I also wanted to bring awareness to the situation that's happening in Darfur (a region in western Sudan). This has been a Weekend of Prayer and Action for Darfur. If you are not familiar with what's happening, there's an ongoing conflict between the Arab militias (back by the Sudanese government) and black African rebels resulting in over 2 million civilians displaced and an estimated death toll of 400,000 killed. The Arab militias are targeting the non-Arab, black African population (killing of babies, the mass rape of women and girls, burning of homes and religious buildings...t...

I thank you for your obedience to God and stepping out in faith to make your vow. But this is just the beginning. We must now fulfill our commitments over the next year. If you didn't get to a chance to make your vow, you can still fill out your vow sheet and drop in the sacrificial giving offering on Sundays...

Wal-Mart Boycott Lifted

The American Family Association has decided to cancel its efforts of encouraging people to not shop at Wal-Mart this Friday and Saturday after Wal-Mart announced today that it "will no longer make corporate contributions to support or oppose controversial issues". This is great news. Notice how effective it is when you threaten a company's bottom line. Click here for the details. So all of you who love Wal-Mart, line up early on Black Friday...just don't run into a pole .

Wal-Mart Gives $60,000 To Homosexual Group

I'm calling for people to join the boycott of shopping at Wal-Mart on the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving to protest Wal-Mart's strong support for the Homosexual agenda. Wal-Mart gave $60,000 to Out & Equal, a homosexual organization pushing the same-sex agenda, including same-sex marriage, in the workplace. In August 2006, Wal-Mart announced a partnership with National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) which includes representation on that organization's corporate advisory council. Wal-Mart will be giving $25,000 annually to the NGLCC, and it has agreed to sponsor two of that organization's conferences. The NGLCC has shown itself to be opposed to the Marriage Protection act. Please join the boycott and sign the online petition . More details can also be found here . Share this info with your family and friends. Also post your comments and let me know what you think about this and other corporations supporting the Homosexual agenda. How can we a...

Any families who are members that didn’t get their Sacrificial Giving Campaign information packet, please make sure you get your packet from the Sacrificial Giving committee.
