Info from Church Family Meeting

Here is some of the info that we presented at the recent Church Family Meeting.

The following people will be coordinators for Mt. Zion for the Harvest Crusade 2007 happening in June 22-24 at RBC Center:

Church Coordinator: Lydia Amekuedi
Follow-up Coordinator: Jess Ward
Youth Coordinator: Rasheeda Oliver & Keith Patterson
Prayer Coordinator: Samantha Hanebeck

We have closed on our loan with BB&T. We will need proceeds from the sale of the church to cover our Bobbitt contract for construction. Monies from the sacrificial giving will go towards furnishings in the new facility.

If our weather continues to be as good as it has been, Bobbitt is proposing that we could move into our new church as early as 4th Quarter of this year.

Mark your calendars for our Street Dedication and Groundbreaking ceremony on Feb. 10th at 1pm.

The biggest announcement of the meeting was that we have sold our current church property!!!! Most of the proceeds will go to phase 1, with some left over to invest for phase 2.

The buyer is anxious to take possession of the property so we have a contract with 45 days to move after we close on the sell. We will be able to keep the furnishing, stained glass windows, and the steeple. We expect to close on this sale by Jan. 30th, so we will be moving to a temporary location in March. So we are actively looking for space to lease. We have formed a "relocation committee" to handle the logistics of moving, storage, ministry events, etc. So if you know of any locations available for lease that will accommodate our size then please give the information to the church office (phone: 469-5323 or email) and it will get passed to the relocation committee.

Many of us have an affinity for the current church building. Mt. Zion has been in the Cary community for 140 years. I know change can be difficult, but we must stick together as a family. After Pastor Lewis passed and I became the pastor, I was very proud of how Mt. Zion stayed together as a family during the change and transition. And I know we can do it again as we move to a temporary location while we wait for our new church to be built.

Here are a few "keys" to help us during this transitional phase:
  1. Prayer: please pray for the right location, price, and size of the lease space and that we can continue operations as usual.
  2. Communication: we will keep everyone informed about the relocation.
  3. Patience: we need your patience as we work through all the logistics for the move.
  4. Encourage each other because we don't want to lose any member as we move to the temporary location.
  5. Don’t lose sight of the vision. Like Israel, we have to go through a little desert to get to the promise land.

Mortgage Burning Ceremony (10.6.24)

Today is a day of celebration and gratitude as we come together to witness the burning of our church’s mortgage! This moment represents years of faith, commitment, and sacrificial giving from this congregation. It’s a testament to God’s faithfulness and the dedication of His people. What we are celebrating today is not just the end of a financial obligation, but the beginning of new possibilities for missions, outreach, and service in our community.   ---     Psalm 127:1 says, ‘Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.’   This building has been more than just bricks and mortar; it has been a spiritual home where so many lives have been touched by the gospel. We recognize that while we’ve paid off the mortgage, it is the Lord who has truly built this house, sustaining us through every season.   --- History of the Vision         Though this chapter is closing, the mission God has ...

My Hope Sunday, M:T Not a Competition, Prayer Gathering (Pastoral Emphasis for 10/13)

Today was My Hope Sunday ! We had several invited guests, and my message was from 1 Samuel 8:4-9 on "Looking for a Savior".  Israel wanted a king like the other nations who would “save” them. This is the very definition of a functional savior. A functional savior is anything or anyone a person looks to for ultimate hope, security, identity, or fulfillment in place of God. Whatever you look to to “save” you from your problems, fears, or insecurities is your functional savior. But all of our functional saviors cannot save us. Jesus is the Savior we really need!  Our greatest need in this life and the life to come is to have our sins forgiven by trusting in Jesus as our Lord and Savior! Today, my wife shared her My Hope Testimony .   (RSS Subscribers: click here to watch the video) Missions:Together’s "Not a Competition" is a powerful missions gathering designed to re-ignite your passion for missions on Saturday, November 2, hosted at The Summit Church in Apex.
