Pastoral Emphasis from 11/5

The evangelistic event, Harvest Crusade is coming to the RBC center on June 22-24 2007. Greg Laurie will be speaking. Mt. Zion will be working with other area churches to support this outreach event. We need a prayer coordinator that will get prayer updates from the Harvest Crusade prayer committee. Preferably someone who regularly attends prayer meeting. Please let me know if you would like to take on this responsibility.

The Outreach Ministry’s annual food drive is underway and will continue through Thurs., Nov. 16th. We have 105 families that we want to provide with Thanksgiving baskets, so we need your generous food and monetary donations. Also, next Sunday’s love offering will go towards the Thanksgiving Food Drive.

If you have not voted during early voting, I encourage everyone to exercise their right and vote on Tuesday. Wake County Voters’ guides are available here.

We are in day 26 of our 40-day fast. We want everyone to participate in making a vow on Commitment Sunday (11/19). Remember, it’s not about equal gifts, but equal sacrifice. If you are member of Mt. Zion and have not gotten your Giving Campaign packet, they are available after services at the Media room (across from Men’s bathroom).

Pastor Harris, My name is Mel Smith the sister of Jessie Snead and sister-inlaw of Larry Snead. I do thank you for bringing these issues to our attention so that we can keep Christ in our America and decrease the 70% of americans that are non-christians.

God Bless you and your family and Happy Thanksgiving

Responding to the Flooding, Christmas in July Food Drive, New Sermon Series (Pastoral Emphasis for 7/13)

Responding to the Flooding All of us are painfully aware of the devastating flooding that struck our nation recently. As of Friday evening, the confirmed death toll in Texas has risen to 129, with at least 150 individuals still missing across the state. Our hearts are heavy, and we grieve for the lives lost and the families enduring unimaginable pain. One of the first things people tend to do is look for someone to blame. Was it the fault of the warning system not being early enough? Was it the fault of the government (state and federal)? Was it the fault of God? If God is so good, why do we suffer with natural disasters like flooding that takes the lives of seemingly innocent people like young children? The reality is that the fault lies with us. Humanity decided to rebel against the Creator God, thereby, ushering in sin and the fall from God's perfect creation. Natural disasters happen because we live in a fallen world ravaged by sin. Natural disasters like these floods are trag...
