Happy Valentine's Day, Bereavements, Prayer & Fasting during Lent (Pastoral Emphasis for 2/14)

Happy Valentine's Day. Whether you are married, dating someone (all boo'd up), single, I want you to know that God loves you! That's not a cliché because God demonstrated His love by sending His Son, Jesus to die for your sins! No greater love is there than for someone to die for another

Bereavement: Our former saxophone player, Bro. Isaac Stubbs passed away last week from massive stroke.  Please be in prayer for his wife and family. Also, Elder Bullock recently lost an uncle and Elder and Sis. Cherry lost a niece.  Pray for all of them during this time of bereavement.

Join us again this Wednesday at 7:00pm for our Bible Study series, "The Promised One: Seeing Jesus in Genesis". This week, we'll look at Genesis 16-24 to see Jesus in the life of Abraham and Isaac.

We are now in the season of Lent (40 days of prayer & fasting not including Sundays). We are doing a church-wide fast. You can decide to do a total fast of all foods or a partial fast of a particular food or activity. Also, here are some things to pray about: your spiritual life (confess & repent of sin, abiding in Christ & bearing fruit), My Hope Sunday (boldness to invite people, salvation).

My Hope Sunday is 3/20. We are asking members to commit to inviting at least one unbeliever/unchurched person to attend church with you. Bring in your commitment cards. Deacon Rufus Credle shared his testimony about his hope in Jesus when he faced cancer.

There will be an intercessory prayer training on Saturday, February 20th, from 9:00am to 11:00am in the MPR. This training is for the Intercessory & Prayer team and anyone else who is interested in learning more about the ministry of intercessory prayer. Please register for the training online.

Due to multiple activities scheduled for Saturday, March 19th, the date for the Spring Spruce UP has been changed to Saturday, April 2nd, 9am to 12pm. Update your calendar and come out to help up keep the Lord's house clean. EVERYONE is invited.

Dress Code, Spreading the Gospel to Japan, Skits & Pizza (Pastoral Emphasis from 7/26)

Thanks to all who came out to the Church Family Meeting. Our focus is reach the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Even though we don't have a formal dress code at church, I think we have an unspoken one. Our guest may perceive a dress code based on what they see on the stage from leadership. So in order to remove any barriers that might prevent some from visiting us or feeling comfortable in our service, the leadership will dress a little more casual. We will try this out until the end of the year and then evaluate. So don't be surprised when you see me not wearing a tie! I shared the following email that we got via our website to show that we are spreading the Gospel worldwide. To God be the glory! Greetings Mt. Zion Church Family...Today is July 27, 2009 and I would like to share the blessing that I have received from your church. I was talking to my very dear sister, soror, friend Sis Brandi Hancock and she and I were having a heart to heart. I told her that I was

One Life Saved

The Bible declares that all life is valuable. "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well" (Psalm 139:13-14). Here's the story of one life saved....
