Pentecost Sunday, Elder-led Prayer, Memorial Day (Pastoral Emphasis for 5/24)

Today in Pentecost Sunday. Fifty days after Passover and ten days after the ascension of Christ, the Holy Spirit came like a mighty rushing wind to indwell the believers that were waiting in Jerusalem. That day, the church was born. Under the New Covenant, all who trust in Christ are sealed and indwelled with the Holy Spirit. Praise God for the Holy Spirit.  He gives us the power to accomplish our mission to make disciples of all nations.

In preparation for our last week of our Romans Bible Study series, please read Romans 8, 13-16 as we'll be looking at the Doctrine of Glorification. Join us again on Wednesday at 7pm.

There is still time to submit YOUR STORY. We want to collect all YOUR STORIES into a scrapbook to be OUR STORY to leave as memorial stones for future generations to know GOD'S STORY of His faithfulness towards this church. Fill out & submit the YOUR STORY questionnaire online.

Tomorrow is Memorial Day. It is the holiday where we remember those who have died in the military service to our country. So as you cook-out, go to the beach, or enjoy time with family, say a prayer for those who have lost family and friends serving for our freedom.

John 15:13 says "Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends." And may this be a reminder that this is exactly what Jesus did for us. He laid down His life on the Cross so that we might be reconciled back to God. Those who trust in Jesus and His work on the Cross are no longer enemies of God but are friends of God. And even more than friends, we are adopted into God's family.

Dress Code, Spreading the Gospel to Japan, Skits & Pizza (Pastoral Emphasis from 7/26)

Thanks to all who came out to the Church Family Meeting. Our focus is reach the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Even though we don't have a formal dress code at church, I think we have an unspoken one. Our guest may perceive a dress code based on what they see on the stage from leadership. So in order to remove any barriers that might prevent some from visiting us or feeling comfortable in our service, the leadership will dress a little more casual. We will try this out until the end of the year and then evaluate. So don't be surprised when you see me not wearing a tie! I shared the following email that we got via our website to show that we are spreading the Gospel worldwide. To God be the glory! Greetings Mt. Zion Church Family...Today is July 27, 2009 and I would like to share the blessing that I have received from your church. I was talking to my very dear sister, soror, friend Sis Brandi Hancock and she and I were having a heart to heart. I told her that I was

One Life Saved
