YOUR STORY, Elder-led Prayer, Marriage & US Supreme Court (Pastoral Emphasis for 4/26)

In preparation for week 4 of our Romans Bible Study series, read Romans 6-8 as we look at Sanctification & Righteousness Defended. Join us again on Wednesday at 7pm.

There is still time to submit YOUR STORY. We want to collect all YOUR STORIES into a scrapbook to be OUR STORY to leave as memorial stones for future generations to know GOD'S STORY of His faithfulness towards this church. Fill out & submit the YOUR STORY questionnaire online.

The next Elder-led Prayer will be held on Tuesday, April 28th, from 6-7pm. Everyone is invited to join us as we focus on specific prayer needs. If you are not able to attend but have prayer requests, you can submit them online.

We are glad to be worshipping today with our sister church, New Life Ministries of Apex (NLM). Pastor Daryl Cody came up and encouraged us from 1 Thess. 5:16-18 to rejoice, continue to pray to God (as our right as His children), and give thanks in all circumstances.

Minister Amekuedi will be preaching at NLM next Sunday for their morning service. I'm sure she would appreciate your prayers.

On Tuesday, the US Supreme Court is going to hear a fight over gay marriage. The case being argued on Tuesday will consider these two questions:

  1. Does the Fourteenth Amendment require a state to license a marriage between two people of the same sex?
  2. Does the Fourteenth Amendment require a state to recognize a marriage between two people of the same sex when their marriage was lawfully licensed and performed out of state?

As Christians we know that it is not even possible for any government to actually redefine what God has defined from eternity. Ultimately marriage is about the union between Christ and His bride, the church, based on the creation of man and woman (Eph. 5:22-31). Without a Christian vision of marriage, we have no Christian vision of the Gospel.

We need to pray. Here's how we can pray:

  • Pray that the Supreme Court gets this right and stays within the limits of its authority—recognizing that the state did not create the family, and cannot recreate it.
  • Pray that Jesus would overcome the chaos of adultery, abandonment, and divorce that the church has allowed in our own marriages and families.
  • Pray that, regardless of whether our land’s highest court recognizes God's definition of marriage or not, we will hold steadfast.

Responding to the Flooding, Christmas in July Food Drive, New Sermon Series (Pastoral Emphasis for 7/13)

Responding to the Flooding All of us are painfully aware of the devastating flooding that struck our nation recently. As of Friday evening, the confirmed death toll in Texas has risen to 129, with at least 150 individuals still missing across the state. Our hearts are heavy, and we grieve for the lives lost and the families enduring unimaginable pain. One of the first things people tend to do is look for someone to blame. Was it the fault of the warning system not being early enough? Was it the fault of the government (state and federal)? Was it the fault of God? If God is so good, why do we suffer with natural disasters like flooding that takes the lives of seemingly innocent people like young children? The reality is that the fault lies with us. Humanity decided to rebel against the Creator God, thereby, ushering in sin and the fall from God's perfect creation. Natural disasters happen because we live in a fallen world ravaged by sin. Natural disasters like these floods are trag...
