January Birthdays & Anniversaries, Isaiah Bible Study, Habitat for Humanity (Pastoral Emphasis for 1/4)

Bereavements

Let us continue to lift up in prayer those members of our church family who laid loved ones to rest yesterday. We especially remember the Dunn, Credle/Stanley, and Fortenberry/Brooks families. May the God of all comfort surround them with His peace, strengthen them in their grief, and remind them that they do not walk through this season alone.

January Birthdays & Anniversaries

January is a month filled with milestones worth celebrating!

Birthdays
If you’re celebrating a birthday this month, we rejoice with you! Happy Birthday to our January babies!

Anniversaries
We also honor and celebrate the gift of marriage and God’s faithfulness through the years:

  • Terence & Tawana Outlaw – 7 years on January 19

  • Henri & Rhonda Spivey – 29 years on January 18

  • Jessie & Renee Redd – 30 years on January 16

  • Quan & Jacqueline Rawls – 31 years on January 28

  • James & Annie Brice – 49 years on January 10

Congratulations to each of these couples for reflecting Christ’s love through commitment and perseverance.

January Senior Birthday Surprise

A special shout-out to Van Johnson, our January Senior Birthday Surprise honoree! We thank God for your life and the blessing you are to our church family.

Bible Study

This year, our Bible Study will journey through the book of Isaiah under the theme “Judgment, Comfort, and Restoration.” For the month of January, we’ll begin with Isaiah chapters 1–6, where God confronts sin, reveals His holiness, and lovingly calls His people back to Himself—laying the foundation for hope and renewal.

We invite you to read Isaiah chapter 1 and join us on Wednesday at 7:00 pm as we hear both the warning and the promise of a holy God who restores His people.

Habitat for Humanity Interest Meeting

Housing and homelessness continue to be growing concerns in our community. Mt. Zion is partnering with Habitat for Humanity in two meaningful ways:

  1. Joining other churches to help build homes

  2. Advocating alongside other churches before the Cary Town Council

If either of these opportunities interests you, please attend the Habitat for Humanity Interest Meeting today from 12:30–1:30 pm in the Multipurpose Room. This is a wonderful chance to learn how we can put faith into action by loving our neighbors in tangible ways.

Responding to the Flooding, Christmas in July Food Drive, New Sermon Series (Pastoral Emphasis for 7/13)

Responding to the Flooding All of us are painfully aware of the devastating flooding that struck our nation recently. As of Friday evening, the confirmed death toll in Texas has risen to 129, with at least 150 individuals still missing across the state. Our hearts are heavy, and we grieve for the lives lost and the families enduring unimaginable pain. One of the first things people tend to do is look for someone to blame. Was it the fault of the warning system not being early enough? Was it the fault of the government (state and federal)? Was it the fault of God? If God is so good, why do we suffer with natural disasters like flooding that takes the lives of seemingly innocent people like young children? The reality is that the fault lies with us. Humanity decided to rebel against the Creator God, thereby, ushering in sin and the fall from God's perfect creation. Natural disasters happen because we live in a fallen world ravaged by sin. Natural disasters like these floods are trag...
