May Birthdays & Anniversaries, Mental Health Awareness, T2 Sisterhood Week (Pastoral Emphasis for 5/4)

Welcome New Member

We welcome Sis. Gerri Robinson who completed her New Members Orientation and Membership Interview. We look forward to getting to know her as she gets integrated into our church family.

🌟 Thank You for Supporting the Dorcas Pantry Easter Food Drive!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in the 2nd Annual Dorcas Pantry Easter Food Drive! Because of your overwhelming generosity, we collected over 50 bags of food to help our neighbors in need. Every donation made a tangible difference, and we’re deeply grateful for your support.

We also want to give a special shout-out to Barbara Smith, our church secretary, whose joyful spirit and dedication helped everything run smoothly. Dorcas Ministries thanks us for standing with them and supporting the Dorcas Pantry—"we couldn’t do this without you!"

🎉 May Birthdays & Anniversaries

It's the BEST month of the year! Let’s hear it for our May babies (including myself)! We celebrate each of you and pray for another year filled with God’s blessings.

🎂 Senior Birthday Surprise

We have a special birthday surprise this month for our beloved Sis. ValJean Patton. Happy Birthday!

💍 Anniversaries

We are also rejoicing with our couples who are celebrating wedding anniversaries this month:

  • Ellery & Minister Rasheeda Oliver – 23 years on 5/5

  • Deacon Rufus & Deaconess Peggy Credle – 46 years on 5/3

  • Elder Wayne & Deaconess Marcia Bullock – 47 years on 5/20

  • Deacon George & Mary Brown – 48 years on 5/21

If we missed anyone, please let us know—we’d love to celebrate you too!

💚 Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and here at Mt. Zion, we are committed to breaking the stigma surrounding mental health in the church.

It’s important to remember:

Struggling with mental health does not mean you lack faith.

Christians can experience anxiety, depression, and other challenges—and still have the joy of the Lord. Seeking help through therapy, counseling, or medication is not a lack of faith but a step toward healing. Keep your ultimate trust in Jesus Christ, and don’t hesitate to get the support you need.

👒 T2 Sisterhood Week – Donations & Events

Our T2 Women’s Ministry is hosting Sisterhood Week, featuring a series of uplifting events that will culminate in our annual Hats & Heels celebration on Mother’s Day!

We are also collecting donations for the Judy D. Zelnak Center of Hope. Items needed include:

  • Body sprays

  • Laundry detergent

  • Lotions

Donations are being accepted through Wednesday. For full details and registration, visit the T2 Table or scan the QR code.

🔺 Delta Academy & GEMS Presentation

Today, we’re thrilled to welcome the Western Wake Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. as part of their May Week celebration! The Delta Academy and GEMS programs gave a presentation and donation to the church for our hosting their meetings and partnership over the years. Thank you for worshipping with us!

💍 Wedding Announcement

We are excited to announce the wedding of Olivia Sallis and David Turner, taking place today at 5 PM right here at the church. Congratulations to the happy couple—we pray your union is filled with love, joy, and God’s abundant blessings!

Mortgage Burning Ceremony (10.6.24)

Today is a day of celebration and gratitude as we come together to witness the burning of our church’s mortgage! This moment represents years of faith, commitment, and sacrificial giving from this congregation. It’s a testament to God’s faithfulness and the dedication of His people. What we are celebrating today is not just the end of a financial obligation, but the beginning of new possibilities for missions, outreach, and service in our community.   ---     Psalm 127:1 says, ‘Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.’   This building has been more than just bricks and mortar; it has been a spiritual home where so many lives have been touched by the gospel. We recognize that while we’ve paid off the mortgage, it is the Lord who has truly built this house, sustaining us through every season.   --- History of the Vision         Though this chapter is closing, the mission God has ...
