Senior Saints Living Day, Church-Wide Fast, My Hope Video (Pastoral Emphasis for 2/26)

We welcome Sis. Mwaba Barcelos who recently joined the church on Christian experience.

We thank the ladies of the Sigma Rho Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority who joined us for worship today as part of their kick-off for their Finer Womanhood Week.

On Saturday, March 4th, our Care Ministry is hosting a Senior Saints Living Day where there will be speakers, resources, activities, games, and health assessments. We want all of our senior saints to thrive spiritually and physically. Today is the last day to register!

I'm calling for a Church-Wide Fast for Lent. Lent is a time of fasting and prayer from Ash Wednesday to Easter. There are 40 days in Lent (not counting the Sundays). Fasting is the voluntary act of abstaining from something for the purpose of growing in self-discipline. As Christians, we find our security and satisfaction in Christ. Therefore, we can give up something because Christ means more to us than whatever we are giving up. We ask everyone to join us for a church-wide partial fast for Lent. A partial fast is where you choose to abstain from certain foods and drinks instead of complete abstinence. Others may choose to fast from television, Netflix, social media, shopping, hobbies, etc. This will help you free up some time to spend in prayer, study, and reflection.

My Hope Sunday will be March 12. All of our members are asked to commit to inviting at least one unbeliever or unchurched person to join us at church on My Hope Sunday. During that service, we will share the hope we have in Jesus Christ. Next Sunday, please bring the names of those who you will be inviting so we can pray over them. As a part of getting us ready for My Hope Sunday, we'll be showing videos of members sharing their testimonies and statements of hope.

Dress Code, Spreading the Gospel to Japan, Skits & Pizza (Pastoral Emphasis from 7/26)

Thanks to all who came out to the Church Family Meeting. Our focus is reach the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Even though we don't have a formal dress code at church, I think we have an unspoken one. Our guest may perceive a dress code based on what they see on the stage from leadership. So in order to remove any barriers that might prevent some from visiting us or feeling comfortable in our service, the leadership will dress a little more casual. We will try this out until the end of the year and then evaluate. So don't be surprised when you see me not wearing a tie! I shared the following email that we got via our website to show that we are spreading the Gospel worldwide. To God be the glory! Greetings Mt. Zion Church Family...Today is July 27, 2009 and I would like to share the blessing that I have received from your church. I was talking to my very dear sister, soror, friend Sis Brandi Hancock and she and I were having a heart to heart. I told her that I was

One Life Saved

The Bible declares that all life is valuable. "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well" (Psalm 139:13-14). Here's the story of one life saved....
