The Peace of the Resurrection, Praying for the Lost in America (Pastoral Emphasis for 4/12)

It's Easter!  Most of us are disappointed that we cannot physically gather at the church to celebrate Easter this year.  Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are all self-quarantining at home. Many people are anxious, afraid, and confused because they don't know what tomorrow will bring. But we're not the first people to experience this.  On the first Easter Sunday, the disciples were self-quarantining at home.  They locked themselves inside a house.  They were afraid of the Jews and confused about the future.  But Jesus showed up miraculously after having risen from the dead!  Jesus spoke peace to them as He continues to do so to us.

The risen Christ should give us peace.  Since Jesus defeated death, those of us who know Him have no reason to fear.  Death is our greatest enemy.  But Jesus defeated death by rising from the dead.

Don't miss the fact that the news of the resurrection was first celebrated in a house, not a church building!  So we can rejoice right in our homes that Jesus is alive!  May the peace of the resurrection rule and rest in our heart.

With our theme of Being a House of Prayer, we're going to have a pastoral prayer every Sunday. We'll have a different topic to pray for each month led by an elder. April's prayer topic is "the lost". Today, Elder Wayne Bullock read John 5:1-9 and led us in prayer for the lost in America.

Dress Code, Spreading the Gospel to Japan, Skits & Pizza (Pastoral Emphasis from 7/26)

Thanks to all who came out to the Church Family Meeting. Our focus is reach the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Even though we don't have a formal dress code at church, I think we have an unspoken one. Our guest may perceive a dress code based on what they see on the stage from leadership. So in order to remove any barriers that might prevent some from visiting us or feeling comfortable in our service, the leadership will dress a little more casual. We will try this out until the end of the year and then evaluate. So don't be surprised when you see me not wearing a tie! I shared the following email that we got via our website to show that we are spreading the Gospel worldwide. To God be the glory! Greetings Mt. Zion Church Family...Today is July 27, 2009 and I would like to share the blessing that I have received from your church. One Life Saved

The Bible declares that all life is valuable. "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well" (Psalm 139:13-14). Here's the story of one life saved....
