Fear Not, Church Family Meeting, Make Disciples When You Can't "Go" (Pastoral Emphasis for 4/26)

With our theme of Being a House of Prayer, we're going to have a pastoral prayer every Sunday. We'll have a different topic to pray for each month led by an elder. April's prayer topic is "the lost". Today, Elder Wayne Bullock read Psalm 146 and led us in prayer for the lost especially those who might be deceived into thinking they are saved.

Minister Matt Darby brought a powerful word today on the topic "Fear Not In Times of Trouble" from Isaiah 41:10,13-14.

Next Sunday, we're back in the book of James for our series The Gospel & Works.

We had our church family meeting today.  Please be in prayer for the following people who are experiencing bereavement:
  • Sis. Minnie Liverman lost her brother recently due to COVID-19. He was the uncle of Sis. Betty Liverman, Theresa Vinson, and Debra Liverman.
  • Sis. Peggy Credle lost a first cousin (not related to COVID-19).
  • Former member, Bro. Cleveland Rich passed away (not related to COVID-19). He formerly served as an usher.
We are resuming our Foundations Fellowship Classes on May 3 from 9 to 9:45 am. But it will only be the combined class.

For those who use CashApp, please put your full name in the notes as you give to the church so we can do proper accounting.

We want to encourage everyone to use Realm. Add your photo to your profile and use groups in Realm to connect with other members. To get new groups created, contact Min. Matt Darby or Elder Bobby Dunn. We'll also be gathering the skills and interests of members in Realm.

I encourage everyone to complete the Census. NC has a very low return rate. If you've filled it out already, encourage others to do so. If you need help, contact Evangelist Tayon Dancy or Min. Matt Darby.

Please refer to our COVID-19 Resource page for a central location for information and resources in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. We will periodically update this page with the information received.  This is also where you'll find the church's WebEx information.

Even though we are “sheltering in our homes”, we can still be faithful to the Great Commission to make disciples (even when we can't “go”)

  • Go where you already are relationally (connect with the people virtually or by phone that you already have a relationship with; offer to help tutor kids whose parents may be overwhelmed)
  • Prayer walk in your neighborhood
  • Plant the seeds of God's Word (when you have encounters with neighbors or others, no matter how brief, plant as many seeds as you can)
  • Show extraordinary compassion (show empathy and compassion for those hurting financially, emotionally, and physically)
  • Prayer is the work (prayer is not the least we can do, it's the most we can do)

Responding to the Flooding, Christmas in July Food Drive, New Sermon Series (Pastoral Emphasis for 7/13)

Responding to the Flooding All of us are painfully aware of the devastating flooding that struck our nation recently. As of Friday evening, the confirmed death toll in Texas has risen to 129, with at least 150 individuals still missing across the state. Our hearts are heavy, and we grieve for the lives lost and the families enduring unimaginable pain. One of the first things people tend to do is look for someone to blame. Was it the fault of the warning system not being early enough? Was it the fault of the government (state and federal)? Was it the fault of God? If God is so good, why do we suffer with natural disasters like flooding that takes the lives of seemingly innocent people like young children? The reality is that the fault lies with us. Humanity decided to rebel against the Creator God, thereby, ushering in sin and the fall from God's perfect creation. Natural disasters happen because we live in a fallen world ravaged by sin. Natural disasters like these floods are trag...
