Hurricane Florence Relief, Prayer 2018, My Hope Sunday (Pastoral Emphasis for 9/30)

Today was our Youth Sunday where our youth lead us in prayer, reading Scripture, and singing. Sis. Tracy Dunn, our youth director, delivered a special message to the youth (and all of us) to "Be greater than our Haters for God's Glory" from Matthew 5:5.

We have started our Hurricane Relief Supply drive for the next couple of weeks. We are collecting items that are immediately needed such as canned food, hygiene items, baby products (diapers, formula), and cleaning supplies. Please start bringing the following items to the church:

  • Thick rubber gloves
  • Face masks- white molded
  • Eye protection (goggles)
  • Trash bags (kitchen)
  • Lawn Trash bags
  • N95 or better paper face mask respirators
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Bleach
  • Toiletries
  • Toilet paper
  • Paper towels
  • Air mattresses
  • Cots
  • Pads/Tampons
  • Diapers/Baby wipes
  • Canned food (soups, meats)

Tuesday, 10/2, is PRAYER 2018 on 10/2, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium. We will NOT have our church- wide prayer gathering on Tuesday. If you've registered, please see Sis. Sandra Broadwater to get your ticket. And we still have available seats so coordinate with Sis. Broadwater if you'd like to attend.

My Hope Sunday is 10/14. All of our members are asked to commit to inviting at least one unbeliever or unchurched person to join us for church on 10/14. During that service, we will share the hope we have in Jesus Christ. Today, we've distributed daily scriptures (you should read each day this week) and commitment cards for you to write down the name(s) of those you are committing to invite. We will collect those cards next Sunday to pray over the names. In preparation of My Hope, we'll be having testimonies from members about their hope in Jesus. Today, Sis. Staci Torrence shared how she had to hold to Jesus during a time when her daughters were taken from her.

Next Sunday, I've been invited to preach at Sovereign Grace Church in Apex for their morning service. I solicit your prayers that I will be able to serve that congregation well with the Word of God.

Dress Code, Spreading the Gospel to Japan, Skits & Pizza (Pastoral Emphasis from 7/26)

Thanks to all who came out to the Church Family Meeting. Our focus is reach the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Even though we don't have a formal dress code at church, I think we have an unspoken one. Our guest may perceive a dress code based on what they see on the stage from leadership. So in order to remove any barriers that might prevent some from visiting us or feeling comfortable in our service, the leadership will dress a little more casual. We will try this out until the end of the year and then evaluate. So don't be surprised when you see me not wearing a tie! I shared the following email that we got via our website to show that we are spreading the Gospel worldwide. To God be the glory! Greetings Mt. Zion Church Family...Today is July 27, 2009 and I would like to share the blessing that I have received from your church. I was talking to my very dear sister, soror, friend Sis Brandi Hancock and she and I were having a heart to heart. I told her that I was
