Theological Seminar, Mental Health Awareness Month, Tornado Love Offering (Pastoral Emphasis for 5/6)

Register for our upcoming Theological Seminar on 5/26 featuring Pastor Jerome Gay of Vision Church talking about the Black Hebrew Israelite movement and their misconception of the Law. Register online or with Connection Card.

Sis. Janelle Wallace announced that the Young Adults Ministry would like for all of the women to participate on Mother’s Day, May 13th, by wearing your SUNDAY’S BEST, including your finest Church Hat!! Refreshments will be available after service.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month.
  • Christians are not immune to mental health issues. We need to break the stigma about mental health (in the church and the African-American community).
  • There is nothing wrong with seeking help.  Get counseling if needed.  Take medication if needed.
  • During this month, I'll be sending out articles and resources about mental health from a biblical perspective to the church's mailing list.  If you're not already subscribed to the mailing list, go to bottom of our website and submit your email address in the the "Hear From Us" form.

Today, we are raising a love offering for the Greensboro Tornado victims. We will be partnering with New Jerusalem Cathedral in Greensboro. A lot of churches are doing good work but I especially like what this church is doing.

If you're giving online to the love offering, make sure to put a note that says Greensboro Tornado.

Minnesota School Shooting, Music Ministry Recruitment, Ark Encounter Trip (Pastoral Emphasis for 8/31)

Minnesota School Shooting Our hearts are heavy over the tragic school and church shooting in Minneapolis at Annunciation Catholic School, where two children lost their lives and many others—some as young as six—are recovering from serious injuries. Sadly, we couldn't get through a full week of traditional school before something like this happens. In this time of profound sorrow, let us hold close in prayer the grieving parents, families, and the entire Annunciation community. Though we cannot fully comprehend their pain, we can stand alongside them in faith, offering compassion, and intercession. May God bring comfort to those who mourn, healing to the wounded, and peace to a terrified community.  Of course, a mass shooting always brings up the issue for stricter gun laws. I agree we do need good legislation and sensible gun laws because it is the government's responsibility to protect its citizens. Ultimately, that will not solve our problem. For a country that has been ...
