This afternoon, Bro. Jae Smith gave his Initial Sermon at 4:00pm. Minister Smith preached from Romans 1:1 on the topic "A Brand Plucked From the Fire".

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. When someone has a mental health condition, support from family and friends can make a BIG difference. If you're struggling with a mental health issues, please let others know. Don't suffer alone.

For family and friends, here are few things that you can do to be supportive:
  • Learn as much as possible about mental health and the person's condition.
  • Encourage your family member to follow the treatment plan.
  • Listen carefully. Simply listening is one of the best ways to show your support. When you don't what to say, it's better to be silent than say something "snap out of it" or "get over it".
  • Resume "normal" activities and routines.
  • Don't push too hard.
  • Express your support out loud.
  • Prepare a crisis plan that includes important phone numbers such as the local crisis intervention team.
  • Don't give up.  Be patient with your loved one and be patient with yourself.  God is with you for the long haul.

Minnesota School Shooting, Music Ministry Recruitment, Ark Encounter Trip (Pastoral Emphasis for 8/31)

Minnesota School Shooting Our hearts are heavy over the tragic school and church shooting in Minneapolis at Annunciation Catholic School, where two children lost their lives and many others—some as young as six—are recovering from serious injuries. Sadly, we couldn't get through a full week of traditional school before something like this happens. In this time of profound sorrow, let us hold close in prayer the grieving parents, families, and the entire Annunciation community. Though we cannot fully comprehend their pain, we can stand alongside them in faith, offering compassion, and intercession. May God bring comfort to those who mourn, healing to the wounded, and peace to a terrified community.  Of course, a mass shooting always brings up the issue for stricter gun laws. I agree we do need good legislation and sensible gun laws because it is the government's responsibility to protect its citizens. Ultimately, that will not solve our problem. For a country that has been ...
