Theological Seminar, Ash Wednesday, Church-wide Fasting (Pastoral Emphasis for 2/11)

While we are positionally holy when we are justified by God, we know that we still sin. Therefore, we need to be progressively made holy. This is what sanctification means. To "sanctify" is to make a person holy. To "sanctify" is to set a person apart for special use. Join us for our upcoming theological seminar on Saturday, February 24th, from 9 am to 11:15 am. Dr. John Hammett from SEBTS will be teaching on "The Doctrine of Sanctification". Come out and learn about this important doctrine. Light refreshments will be served. Please register for the seminar online.

This Wednesday is Ash Wednesday which is the start of Lent season.  We will be anointing with ashes after Bible Study around 8pm.  We anoint with ashes as a symbol of our mourning and repentance over sin.  If you'd like to be anointed with ashes but cannot make it that evening, you can come to the church between 11am and 1pm to be anointed with ashes.

Again, we're calling for a church-wide fast during Lent.  You can do a partial fast where you will give up certain foods, drinks, or activities.  Lent is 40 days beginning on Ash Wednesday and will end on Easter Sunday, April 1st, but does not count Sundays.

Thanks to the parents, teachers, and members who stayed for the information meeting regarding the Children's & Youth Ministries changes.  We're really looking forward to improving how we teach and disciple our children and youth.

Minnesota School Shooting, Music Ministry Recruitment, Ark Encounter Trip (Pastoral Emphasis for 8/31)

Minnesota School Shooting Our hearts are heavy over the tragic school and church shooting in Minneapolis at Annunciation Catholic School, where two children lost their lives and many others—some as young as six—are recovering from serious injuries. Sadly, we couldn't get through a full week of traditional school before something like this happens. In this time of profound sorrow, let us hold close in prayer the grieving parents, families, and the entire Annunciation community. Though we cannot fully comprehend their pain, we can stand alongside them in faith, offering compassion, and intercession. May God bring comfort to those who mourn, healing to the wounded, and peace to a terrified community.  Of course, a mass shooting always brings up the issue for stricter gun laws. I agree we do need good legislation and sensible gun laws because it is the government's responsibility to protect its citizens. Ultimately, that will not solve our problem. For a country that has been ...
