Seeing Jesus in the Fall, Twisted Too, The Power of an Invitation (Pastoral Emphasis for 1/17)

Join us again this Wednesday at 7:00pm for our Bible Study series, "The Promised One: Seeing Jesus in Genesis". This week, we'll look at seeing Jesus in the Fall.

Don't forget to fill out the police survey given out last Sunday. If you didn't get a survey, please ask the ushers. Extras will be available at the Welcome Center. The survey is going to be used by a group of pastors and Cary police that I'm a part of that's working to improve relationship between the police and the African-American community.

Zone 1 members will be directing a service on this afternoon at 2pm at Brookdale Cary Assisted Living. Everyone is invited.

Next Sunday, we kick off a new sermon series, Twisted Too. We'll be looking at some more of the most misused Scriptures. Here's what we'll be covering...
  • 1/24 – Habakkuk 2:2-3: “Write the vision, make it plain”
  • 1/31 – John 14:13-14: “Ask for anything in my Name, I will do it”
  • 2/07 – Isaiah 53:5: “By His stripes, we are healed”
  • 2/14 – Prov. 22:6: “Train up a child in the way he should go”
  • 2/21 – Rev. 3:20: “Behold, I stand at the door and knock”

My Hope Sunday is 3/20. We are asking members to commit to inviting at least one unbeliever or unchurched person to attend church with you. Bring in your commitment cards and start praying about who you will invite. Research says that 96% of the unchurched are at least somewhat likely to attend church if they are invited. Minister Hanebeck shared her testimony of the power of an invitation. She was not raised in the church and was in the US for work but an invitation from a member to attend Mt. Zion for two Easter services led to her hearing the Gospel and being saved!

Dress Code, Spreading the Gospel to Japan, Skits & Pizza (Pastoral Emphasis from 7/26)

Thanks to all who came out to the Church Family Meeting. Our focus is reach the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Even though we don't have a formal dress code at church, I think we have an unspoken one. Our guest may perceive a dress code based on what they see on the stage from leadership. So in order to remove any barriers that might prevent some from visiting us or feeling comfortable in our service, the leadership will dress a little more casual. We will try this out until the end of the year and then evaluate. So don't be surprised when you see me not wearing a tie! I shared the following email that we got via our website to show that we are spreading the Gospel worldwide. To God be the glory! Greetings Mt. Zion Church Family...Today is July 27, 2009 and I would like to share the blessing that I have received from your church. I was talking to my very dear sister, soror, friend Sis Brandi Hancock and she and I were having a heart to heart. I told her that I was

One Life Saved

The Bible declares that all life is valuable. "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well" (Psalm 139:13-14). Here's the story of one life saved....
