Bereavements, First Church Family Meeting, Ordination Service (Pastoral Emphasis for 1/31)

There are several families at Mt. Zion currently experiencing bereavements.  Please pray for the following members:
  • Deaconess Rhonda Spivey's father (who was a pastor) died on Friday night
  • Deaconess Tasha Smith (loss of an aunt)
  • Sis. Brenda Tyrance (loss of grandbaby)
  • Evangelist Tayon Dancy (loss of cousin)
Join us again this Wednesday at 7:00pm for our Bible Study series, "The Promised One: Seeing Jesus in Genesis". This week, we'll look at seeing Jesus in the Tower of Babel.

We held our first Church Family Meeting for the year right after the service today. We shared important info on 2016 ministry goals, last year's finances, an update to our Constitution and By-Laws, and a statement from the elders on the importance of regular church attendance.

At 4pm, we had an Ordination Service to ordain an Elder Sean Cherry and Deacons Tim Thompson, Henri Spivey, and Corey Smith. Pastor Daryl Cody, New Life Ministries of Apex, preached the ordination message on "A Few Good Men" from Rev. 3:11.  Pastor Cody encouraged the ordination candidates to hold fast to their beliefs, character, and teaching of the Gospel. Thanks to all on came out to support these brothers in their ministry.

My Hope Sunday is 3/20. We are asking all members to commit to inviting at least one unbeliever/unchurched person to attend church with you. Sis. Phyllis Lewis shared how her hope in Christ helped her through a financial crisis.

Responding to the Flooding, Christmas in July Food Drive, New Sermon Series (Pastoral Emphasis for 7/13)

Responding to the Flooding All of us are painfully aware of the devastating flooding that struck our nation recently. As of Friday evening, the confirmed death toll in Texas has risen to 129, with at least 150 individuals still missing across the state. Our hearts are heavy, and we grieve for the lives lost and the families enduring unimaginable pain. One of the first things people tend to do is look for someone to blame. Was it the fault of the warning system not being early enough? Was it the fault of the government (state and federal)? Was it the fault of God? If God is so good, why do we suffer with natural disasters like flooding that takes the lives of seemingly innocent people like young children? The reality is that the fault lies with us. Humanity decided to rebel against the Creator God, thereby, ushering in sin and the fall from God's perfect creation. Natural disasters happen because we live in a fallen world ravaged by sin. Natural disasters like these floods are trag...
