Bereavement, 150th Anniversary Week is Here, Prayer 2015 (Pastoral Emphasis for 9/13)

With sadness, I announce that our former minister, James Wheeler, passed away and was buried on Saturday. Before moving away, Minister Wheeler played an important part of our ministry at Mt. Zion as a minister, singer in the Male Chorus, and Sunday School teacher. He will be fondly remembered. Please pray for the Wheeler family.

Congrats to the newlyweds, Caesar and Nicole Boone who were married on Saturday.

We are reading through the Bible as a church family this year. We're following the 52 week reading plan. We are on week 37.

Our Anniversary Week is here! Here's what's happening this week...
  • Old Fashioned Revival – 9/16 starting with Hors d'oeuvre at 6pm and the service at 7pm. Pastor Larry Snead will be our speaker.
  • Anniversary Play – 9/18 at 7:00pm.
  • Anniversary Gala – 9/19 at 7pm. Sunday was the last day to purchase a ticket.
  • On Sunday, 9/20, Pastor James White will be our guest speaker to celebrate my 13th pastoral anniversary.
Mark your calendars for this year's Prayer 2015, the area-wide prayer rally will be held at Memorial Auditorium, Raleigh, on Tuesday, October 6th, from 7 to 9pm. The event will be led by a group of area pastors, with many different churches across denominations and ethnicities participating. Mt. Zion has 25 reserved seats available. You may sign up online if you would like to participate. Contact Sis. Sandra Broadwater for questions.

Speaking of prayer, we've moved the prayer request box to the small desk at the back of the sanctuary (on the right side as you leave) hopefully for ease of access. So feel free to drop off any prayer requests and we'll pray for you.

Dress Code, Spreading the Gospel to Japan, Skits & Pizza (Pastoral Emphasis from 7/26)

Thanks to all who came out to the Church Family Meeting. Our focus is reach the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Even though we don't have a formal dress code at church, I think we have an unspoken one. Our guest may perceive a dress code based on what they see on the stage from leadership. So in order to remove any barriers that might prevent some from visiting us or feeling comfortable in our service, the leadership will dress a little more casual. We will try this out until the end of the year and then evaluate. So don't be surprised when you see me not wearing a tie! I shared the following email that we got via our website to show that we are spreading the Gospel worldwide. To God be the glory! Greetings Mt. Zion Church Family...Today is July 27, 2009 and I would like to share the blessing that I have received from your church. I was talking to my very dear sister, soror, friend Sis Brandi Hancock and she and I were having a heart to heart. I told her that I was

One Life Saved

The Bible declares that all life is valuable. "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well" (Psalm 139:13-14). Here's the story of one life saved....
