Service at Chatham Commons, Theological Seminar, Zone Softball Tournament (Pastoral Emphasis for 8/16)

We are reading through the Bible as a church family this year. We're following the 52 week reading plan. We are on week 33.

Deaconess Angelique Cherry announced that the winner of our second round of "Guess Who" is my wife, Anita!  And I did not give her the answers!

Zone 3 did a service at Chatham Commons on Sunday afternoon. Bro. Jae Smith brought a straight Gospel message from the verse, "Jesus wept", emphasizing Jesus' deity and humanity. The Gospel Choir sang praises to our great God. Please take advantage of these opportunities to spread the Gospel and serve those in our community.

What does it mean that God has chosen the elect? Is God unjust not to elect everyone? Dr. Keith Whitfield, SEBTS, is returning to finish teaching on "The Doctrine of Election" for our next free theological seminar on Saturday, 8/22, from 9:00am to 11:15am. Come out and learn more about this important doctrine. Light refreshments will be served. Please register for the seminar online.

The Fall Spruce UP is 8/29 from 9am to 12pm. So come out and help clean our church for our upcoming anniversary activities.

We're having a friendly Zone Softball Tournament. Zone members will “bat” it out on the Softball Diamond Saturday, Sept 26th, from 3:00pm -7:00pm. Sign-up sheets are available at the Welcome Center! Come enjoy some food, fun and fellowship. Must be 16 to play. Kid’s activities on site as well. May the best Zone win! Contact Tracy Downing or your Deacon with questions.

Dress Code, Spreading the Gospel to Japan, Skits & Pizza (Pastoral Emphasis from 7/26)

Thanks to all who came out to the Church Family Meeting. Our focus is reach the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Even though we don't have a formal dress code at church, I think we have an unspoken one. Our guest may perceive a dress code based on what they see on the stage from leadership. So in order to remove any barriers that might prevent some from visiting us or feeling comfortable in our service, the leadership will dress a little more casual. We will try this out until the end of the year and then evaluate. So don't be surprised when you see me not wearing a tie! I shared the following email that we got via our website to show that we are spreading the Gospel worldwide. To God be the glory! Greetings Mt. Zion Church Family...Today is July 27, 2009 and I would like to share the blessing that I have received from your church. I was talking to my very dear sister, soror, friend Sis Brandi Hancock and she and I were having a heart to heart. I told her that I was

One Life Saved

The Bible declares that all life is valuable. "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well" (Psalm 139:13-14). Here's the story of one life saved....
