We are reading through the Bible as a church family this year. We're following the 52 week reading plan. We are on week 5.

Sis. Juanita Hunter's son, Wilbur Hunter, has been hospitalized and is in intensive care at Cary Wake Med. He has been diagnosed with lung cancer and pneumonia. Please pray for Wilbur and the family.

Men of Mt. Zion, lend us your voices! Our Male Choir needs you. They will be singing next Sunday and would like to challenge more men of the church to step up and join them for rehearsals on Thursday at 7pm and Saturday at 10am.

Join us this Wednesday for a month long of Wednesday Family Worship. Starting at 6pm, we will fellowship over a meal, have praise and worship, and then bible study. We'll be studying 1 John. And we'll be done by 8pm.

The Watoto Children's Choir concert is this Saturday at 4pm. We are anticipating a very large crowd. Since we want to accommodate our guests, I'd like to ask our Mt. Zion family to be prepared to let our guest have seats. We can use the MPR and other areas with monitors as overflow.

We're having another book giveaway, this time for our singles! I want to show our singles some love. Singles, you can nominate yourself by sending me an email at pastorharris AT mtzioncary.org, send me a message on Facebook or Twitter.

If you were at the Church Family Meeting then you know that we only missed last year's budget by a few hundred dollars. For that we give God praise! Thanks to all who gave sacrificially. In order to not get in the same situation this year as well as focusing on reducing our mortgage, we are asking all of our members to continue to give at least 10% above your normal giving (tithe/offering). We'll be communicating more details about this in the weeks to come. Another good reason to make sure your email address is up-to-date in our records.

Dress Code, Spreading the Gospel to Japan, Skits & Pizza (Pastoral Emphasis from 7/26)

Thanks to all who came out to the Church Family Meeting. Our focus is reach the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Even though we don't have a formal dress code at church, I think we have an unspoken one. Our guest may perceive a dress code based on what they see on the stage from leadership. So in order to remove any barriers that might prevent some from visiting us or feeling comfortable in our service, the leadership will dress a little more casual. We will try this out until the end of the year and then evaluate. So don't be surprised when you see me not wearing a tie! I shared the following email that we got via our website to show that we are spreading the Gospel worldwide. To God be the glory! Greetings Mt. Zion Church Family...Today is July 27, 2009 and I would like to share the blessing that I have received from your church. I was talking to my very dear sister, soror, friend Sis Brandi Hancock and she and I were having a heart to heart. I told her that I was

One Life Saved

The Bible declares that all life is valuable. "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well" (Psalm 139:13-14). Here's the story of one life saved....
