J. Allen Lewis Scholarship Applications, Church Family Meeting, Mother's Day Book Giveaway (Pastoral Emphasis for 4/27)

To all of our High School Seniors: The J. Allen Lewis Memorial Scholarship applications are available in the church office. You must submit your application and packet information to the church office by June 1.

All members are asked to attend the Church Family Meeting is tomorrow at 7:00pm. We'll be giving an update on our church security.

We're excited about our team that's going to the Ecuador Mission Trip. Here's a way that you can support them. Zoe's Kitchen in Park West Village in Morrisville will be having a Spirit Day today to help raise funds for the mission trip. Just mention Mt. Zion when you place your order and 15% will go to support our missionaries. I believe Zoe's Kitchen will be doing more of these Spirit Days.

A few years back, we did a Father's Day Book Giveaway so now it's time for a Mother's Day Book Giveaway.  On Mother's Day, I'll be giving away books, devotionals, and study resources to celebrate and encourage our mothers.  Son, daughters, and dads, please nominate the mother in your life by submitting their name and why she is a good mother in 1 sentence or less.  Submit them to me via email (pastorharris@mtzioncary.org), Facebook, Twitter, or Connection Card.  Submission are due by May 9th.  The mom must be present at the service and agree to read and use the book (or give away).

Responding to the Flooding, Christmas in July Food Drive, New Sermon Series (Pastoral Emphasis for 7/13)

Responding to the Flooding All of us are painfully aware of the devastating flooding that struck our nation recently. As of Friday evening, the confirmed death toll in Texas has risen to 129, with at least 150 individuals still missing across the state. Our hearts are heavy, and we grieve for the lives lost and the families enduring unimaginable pain. One of the first things people tend to do is look for someone to blame. Humanity decided to rebel against the Creator God, thereby, ushering in sin and the fall from God's perfect creation. Natural disasters happen because we live in a fallen world ravaged by sin. Natural disasters like these floods are trag...

Minnesota School Shooting, Music Ministry Recruitment, Ark Encounter Trip (Pastoral Emphasis for 8/31)

Minnesota School Shooting Our hearts are heavy over the tragic school and church shooting in Minneapolis at Annunciation Catholic School, where two children lost their lives and many others—some as young as six—are recovering from serious injuries. Sadly, we couldn't get through a full week of traditional school before something like this happens. In this time of profound sorrow, let us hold close in prayer the grieving parents, families, and the entire Annunciation community. Though we cannot fully comprehend their pain, we can stand alongside them in faith, offering compassion, and intercession. May God bring comfort to those who mourn, healing to the wounded, and peace to a terrified community.  Of course, a mass shooting always brings up the issue for stricter gun laws. I agree we do need good legislation and sensible gun laws because it is the government's responsibility to protect its citizens. Ultimately, that will not solve our problem. For a country that has been ...
