Easter Weekend, New Bible Study on Ephesians, WSSU Choir (Pastoral Emphasis for 4/13)

We wrapped up our study in Galatians last Wednesday. It was great to dig into that book to understand that our justification is by faith alone. The next Bible Study Series starts Wednesday at 7pm and we will be in Ephesians.  Join us as we look at our identity should be found in Christ.

I will be preaching at New Destiny Christian Fellowship for their 10th Church Anniversary on Wednesday, April 23rd, at 7:30pm. The celebration will be held at Greater Emmanuel Temple of Grace in Durham.

Everyone is invited to celebrate Easter with us. This weekend we have various activities happening.
  • This Friday will have a Good Friday service from 6 to 7pm. We'll be looking at what was happening when Jesus said "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"
  • On Saturday, we're having an Egg Hunt at 11am (this year we got more eggs, around 1000).
  • Later on Saturday at 4pm is our Easter Program called "The Real Easter Story".
  • After the program we're having dinner together. Please sign up online ("Easter Program"). When you sign up include the number of guests that you will be bringing.
  • On Sunday, join us for our Sunrise Easter Service at 6am, where we will celebrate the Lord's Supper. This will be our only service for the day.  Invite a lot of people (family, friends, co-workers) to join us during the Easter weekend.

Right after the service today, we had a Pastors Meet and Greet with our new members who had completed New Members Orientation in 2013 and the first quarter of 2014 are invited.  A lot of the new members came to Mt. Zion because they were invited.  The lesson learned: invite people to church.  Your invitation makes a difference.

The Worship Ministry is hosted a Musical Concert performance by the Winston-Salem State University Choir today at 4pm. The choir features our very own, Brianna Martin.  The choir was wonderful.  We pray God's blessings on them as they travel around the world sharing and uplifting others with their God-given talents.

Responding to the Flooding, Christmas in July Food Drive, New Sermon Series (Pastoral Emphasis for 7/13)

Responding to the Flooding All of us are painfully aware of the devastating flooding that struck our nation recently. As of Friday evening, the confirmed death toll in Texas has risen to 129, with at least 150 individuals still missing across the state. Our hearts are heavy, and we grieve for the lives lost and the families enduring unimaginable pain. One of the first things people tend to do is look for someone to blame. Was it the fault of the warning system not being early enough? Was it the fault of the government (state and federal)? Was it the fault of God? If God is so good, why do we suffer with natural disasters like flooding that takes the lives of seemingly innocent people like young children? The reality is that the fault lies with us. Humanity decided to rebel against the Creator God, thereby, ushering in sin and the fall from God's perfect creation. Natural disasters happen because we live in a fallen world ravaged by sin. Natural disasters like these floods are trag...
