God's Revelation, Radical Experiment Update (Pastoral Emphasis for 1/16)

Many world religions say that you can never know God and have a personal relationship with Him. Although we can never fully know God now, He has revealed Himself to us. He has revealed Himself through creation. This is called general revelation.

Psalms 19:1-4 (NLT) says...
The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known. They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard. Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world. God has made a home in the heavens for the sun.

God also reveals Himself through His Word. This is special revelation. As the J Allen Lewis Children's Choir sang this morning, "Yes, Jesus loves me...for the Bible tells me so!" The Bible tells us how God loves us and saves us through His Son, Jesus Christ.

So we do not serve a God who has not revealed Himself to us or does not want to have a relationship with us. He has sent Jesus to reconcile us back to Himself. And He has left His Spirit as a deposit in us. What a wonderful God we serve!

Youth Sunday, J. Allen Lewis Scholarship Winners, A Word to Our Graduates (Pastoral Emphasis for 6/14)

  Today was Youth Sunday , where our children and youth were leading and participating in the worship service. Our children read scripture, prayed, sang, and ministered a fine arts piece. We heard a message from a youth speaker, Abigail Campbell, who encouraged us to work hard and leave the rest to God.  Celebrating Our Graduates We also recognized and celebrated all of our graduates. Whether you completed high school, earned a college degree, completed graduate studies, or achieved another educational milestone, we rejoice with you and thank God for your hard work and perseverance. We are also grateful for the impact of the Delta Academy and GEM programs , which have been meeting at Mt. Zion. We appreciate the investment these programs make in developing and encouraging young people, and we thank Ms. Daniel and Ms. Owens for their leadership and partnership. J.
