Children's Day, Registration Reminders (Pastoral Emphasis from 6/8)

Today was Children's Day and our children took over the service. We had a great time in the Lord. We recognized Precious Johnson as the Youth of the Year. And the JA Lewis Memorial scholarship was awarded to Ian Clanton. Some pics from yesterday's fun activities are on the photo gallery. I also grabbed a quick video (aren't phones with video cameras useful?) of some interesting exercising/dancing. I'll have to post on the church's YouTube channel.

A couple of registration reminders:
  • The Men's Conference is this Friday & Saturday. Please register and pay for conference (we don't want money to be a hindrance so talk to the conference committee if you need assistance).
  • VBS is next week. So please pay for your registration as well. Also, dinner will be served from 6 to 6:45pm. So the kitchen will be closed promptly at 6:45pm in order to get ready for classes to begin at 7pm.
Tuesday morning Prayer Meeting has been suspended due to Deacon Gibbon's health.

Next Sunday is Father's Day. So don't forget to honor the fathers in your lives. What does it mean to be a father, husband, and a man? Next Sunday, I will be starting a new series on "Reclaiming Biblical Headship".

Minnesota School Shooting, Music Ministry Recruitment, Ark Encounter Trip (Pastoral Emphasis for 8/31)

Minnesota School Shooting Our hearts are heavy over the tragic school and church shooting in Minneapolis at Annunciation Catholic School, where two children lost their lives and many others—some as young as six—are recovering from serious injuries. Sadly, we couldn't get through a full week of traditional school before something like this happens. In this time of profound sorrow, let us hold close in prayer the grieving parents, families, and the entire Annunciation community. Though we cannot fully comprehend their pain, we can stand alongside them in faith, offering compassion, and intercession. May God bring comfort to those who mourn, healing to the wounded, and peace to a terrified community.  Of course, a mass shooting always brings up the issue for stricter gun laws.
