Pastoral Emphasis from 4/29

Our very own Angel Johnson was recognized by the Smith Elementary School as their Spotlight on Students Award winner for 2006 - 2007. Spotlight on Students is a program sponsored by Wake County Public Schools to recognize students for outstanding personal achievement. Please congratulate Angel the next time you see her.

Sis. Michelle Chalmers invites her Mt. Zion family to support her in the first level of her new (GiftQuick) Business on May 5th at 4:00pm at her home (1552 Dirkson Court).

Our first Theatrical Dance Production, "Distractions" was a successful! Everyone from the dancers, musicians, directors, stage hands, etc did a great job. And more importantly, there were 31 visitors at the event, 10 of which did not have a church home and 1 person accepted Christ during the invitation. Praise the Lord!

I personally encourage all who can to participate in the Impact classes starting this week for Harvest Crusade. Regardless of whether you volunteer to be on the follow-up team, it will be good training to help you share your faith.

Here's an excerpt from the testimony of Pastor Mark Harris of Charlotte regarding the Impact classes: "Just wanted to drop you a word concerning the Impact Classes that are soon starting in the Raleigh area. I can honestly say that as I had the pleasure of chairing the Harvest Crusade in Augusta, Ga. in 2005, the impact classes were a major piece of the puzzle. They are designed to truly prepare the body of Christ in the city spiritually for what God is going to do. For many believers, it gets them into God's Word and focuses on His plans and purposes for their lives. The Impact Classes not only provide such a tremendous spiritual foundation, but they also provide a tremendous mobilization feature to the overall crusade. There is something special about believers gathering from churches all across the area in several 'host churches' over these nights of classes."

Dress Code, Spreading the Gospel to Japan, Skits & Pizza (Pastoral Emphasis from 7/26)

Thanks to all who came out to the Church Family Meeting. Our focus is reach the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Even though we don't have a formal dress code at church, I think we have an unspoken one. Our guest may perceive a dress code based on what they see on the stage from leadership. So in order to remove any barriers that might prevent some from visiting us or feeling comfortable in our service, the leadership will dress a little more casual. We will try this out until the end of the year and then evaluate. So don't be surprised when you see me not wearing a tie! I shared the following email that we got via our website to show that we are spreading the Gospel worldwide. To God be the glory! Greetings Mt. Zion Church Family...Today is July 27, 2009 and I would like to share the blessing that I have received from your church. I was talking to my very dear sister, soror, friend Sis Brandi Hancock and she and I were having a heart to heart. I told her that I was

One Life Saved

The Bible declares that all life is valuable. "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well" (Psalm 139:13-14). Here's the story of one life saved....
