Pastoral Emphasis from 5/13

The Youth Ministry will be holding their quarterly Open House on Mon., May 14th at 7:00pm. We need all parents of our teens to attend.

Update on Harvest Crusade: I want to encourage everyone who can to volunteer as a counselor. Harvest has a goal of 3,000 counselors so that we can provide one-on-one time with people coming forward. So even if you missed the first two classes, you can still be a counselor if you attend the third and final class! Being a counselor at Harvest does not mean that you will need to do any "in-depth" counseling. What is needed is to simply greet and encourage a new believer and give the person some info on their new walk with the Lord. Those who want to be counselors, please contact Deacon Ward (his email address can be found here) immediately to let him know. And if anyone wants to work on the follow-up team, you also need to contact him immediately. Mt Zion will not be providing transportation to the event. The idea is for people to bring others with them to the event. We don't want to just take a van of Mt Zion members to the RBC center. You should invite unbelievers to Harvest and then bring them with you to the event.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the mothers, grandmothers, and those who are mother figures. Thank God for mothers who take care of the children, cook, clean, do the laundry, manage careers, etc. We appreciate all that you do.

In commenting on the nature of women, Martin Luther is reported to have said: "When Eve was brought unto Adam, he became filled with the Holy Spirit, and gave her the most sanctified, the most glorious of appellations. He called her Eve, that is to say, the Mother of All. He did not style her wife, but simply mother, mother of all living creatures. In this consists the glory and the most precious ornament of woman."

Dress Code, Spreading the Gospel to Japan, Skits & Pizza (Pastoral Emphasis from 7/26)

Thanks to all who came out to the Church Family Meeting. Our focus is reach the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Even though we don't have a formal dress code at church, I think we have an unspoken one. Our guest may perceive a dress code based on what they see on the stage from leadership. So in order to remove any barriers that might prevent some from visiting us or feeling comfortable in our service, the leadership will dress a little more casual. We will try this out until the end of the year and then evaluate. So don't be surprised when you see me not wearing a tie! I shared the following email that we got via our website to show that we are spreading the Gospel worldwide. To God be the glory! Greetings Mt. Zion Church Family...Today is July 27, 2009 and I would like to share the blessing that I have received from your church. I was talking to my very dear sister, soror, friend Sis Brandi Hancock and she and I were having a heart to heart. I told her that I was

One Life Saved

The Bible declares that all life is valuable. "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well" (Psalm 139:13-14). Here's the story of one life saved....
