Theological Seminar, Missions:Triangle, My Hope Sunday (Pastoral Emphasis for 10/1)

Happy Birthday to our October babies...

Happy Anniversary to our October couples...

Our October Senior Birthday Surprise goes to Sis. Connie Whiting.

Join us for our next Theological Seminar on 10/7 addressing Church Hurt. Pastor Jerome Gay Jr. will be discussing the topic of his latest book, "Church Hurt: Holding the Church Accountable and Helping Hurt People Heal". Here's an excerpt from the foreword of the book:

“There are two common responses. The first is to diminish church hurt as if it’s not real or as if people should simply get over it in the name of Jesus. This response fails to bear one another’s burdens as Jesus Himself, the Bearer of all our burdens, has commanded. The second response is to dismiss the church in light of the damage that has been caused and, at best, to exist as a believer disconnected from the body of Christ or, at worst, to walk away from the faith altogether. Neither of these answers is sufficient, for the church, though often a place where deep hurt is experienced, is also, when functioning in alignment with God’s heart, the place where true healing takes place. Pastor Jerome neither diminishes church hurt nor dismisses the church. He has given us this third response that diagnoses the problem and offers the solution by painting the picture of how to hold ourselves accountable as the body of Christ and live imperfectly in unity.”

You will not want to miss this seminar. Register today.

I would appreciate your prayers as I have a couple of outside speaking engagements coming up. Next Sunday, I will be preaching at Trinity Park Church for Pastor Corey Jackson who is out of the country.

Mark your calendars for Oct. 28 from 9am to 2pm. I have the privilege of being one of the speakers at the Missions: Triangle Conference. This conference will address the challenges of church growth in Wake County, emphasize the importance of the Great Commission, and highlight the urgent need to reach the billions around the world who lack access to the Gospel. The conference is free, and lunch will be provided. You can register at missionstriangle.org.

My Hope Sunday is next Sunday. Today, members brought their Commitment Cards with the names of those they are inviting to My Hope Sunday. We prayed over those names for God to draw them to Himself and save. To get ready for My Hope Sunday, we'll be sharing testimonies about our hope in Jesus Christ.

Responding to the Flooding, Christmas in July Food Drive, New Sermon Series (Pastoral Emphasis for 7/13)

Responding to the Flooding All of us are painfully aware of the devastating flooding that struck our nation recently. As of Friday evening, the confirmed death toll in Texas has risen to 129, with at least 150 individuals still missing across the state. Our hearts are heavy, and we grieve for the lives lost and the families enduring unimaginable pain. One of the first things people tend to do is look for someone to blame. Was it the fault of the warning system not being early enough? Was it the fault of the government (state and federal)? Was it the fault of God? If God is so good, why do we suffer with natural disasters like flooding that takes the lives of seemingly innocent people like young children? The reality is that the fault lies with us. Humanity decided to rebel against the Creator God, thereby, ushering in sin and the fall from God's perfect creation. Natural disasters happen because we live in a fallen world ravaged by sin. Natural disasters like these floods are trag...
