Homegoing Celebration for Joseph Farrow, Happy Father's Day, VBS (Pastoral Emphasis for 6/19)

Our dear brother, Joseph Farrow, went home to be with the Lord last week. His Homegoing Celebration will be tomorrow, June 20th at 1 pm. The viewing will be at 12:00 pm. I want to encourage everyone who is available to come out and support the family. Please keep the family in your prayers.

Several church members are experiencing bereavements in their families so please pray for them.
  • Deacon Phil Blango's uncle recently passed following an illness.
  • Sis. Mersedes Griffin's granddaughter lost her husband last week after a brief illness. He was only 37.
  • Bro. Mike Jerkins' mother passed last night.

Praise God for these young people who came forward last Sunday after the Youth Service.
  • Charlize Harris, age 14 - Trusted Christ & a candidate for baptism
  • Exavier Martin, age 7 - Trusted Christ & candidate for baptism

Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers.

Mt. Zion is blessed to have so many men who are great fathers! Like Mother's Day, Father's Day can be tough for many. Whether your father is no longer living, you didn't know your father, your father was not much of a father, or even if you desire to be a father and it has not happened yet, I want to encourage you that God has revealed Himself as Father and through faith in Jesus, we have received the spirit of adoption and can call God, Abba ("Father"). And even if you've messed up as a father, remember that you don't have to be perfect because Jesus was perfect for you. Keep your eyes on Jesus and He'll sanctify you to become a better father.

VBS is this week
  • Wednesday through Friday: there will be food from 5:30 to 6:30pm with our sessions starting at 6:30pm.
  • Saturday: Session at 9am; community service from 10am to 12pm; and cookout from 4pm to 7pm.
  • Sunday: Worship Service (with the sermon based on VBS) and there will be Food Trucks after service for lunch and fellowship.
  • Today is the last day to register. If you're planning to attend please register so we can finalize the head count numbers for food and classes. The high schoolers (rising 9th-12th) graders will be serving this year or can participate in a mixed generation class.

Mortgage Burning Ceremony (10.6.24)

Today is a day of celebration and gratitude as we come together to witness the burning of our church’s mortgage! This moment represents years of faith, commitment, and sacrificial giving from this congregation. It’s a testament to God’s faithfulness and the dedication of His people. What we are celebrating today is not just the end of a financial obligation, but the beginning of new possibilities for missions, outreach, and service in our community.   ---     Psalm 127:1 says, ‘Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.’   This building has been more than just bricks and mortar; it has been a spiritual home where so many lives have been touched by the gospel. We recognize that while we’ve paid off the mortgage, it is the Lord who has truly built this house, sustaining us through every season.   --- History of the Vision         Though this chapter is closing, the mission God has ...

My Hope Sunday, M:T Not a Competition, Prayer Gathering (Pastoral Emphasis for 10/13)

Today was My Hope Sunday ! We had several invited guests, and my message was from 1 Samuel 8:4-9 on "Looking for a Savior".  Israel wanted a king like the other nations who would “save” them. This is the very definition of a functional savior. A functional savior is anything or anyone a person looks to for ultimate hope, security, identity, or fulfillment in place of God. Whatever you look to to “save” you from your problems, fears, or insecurities is your functional savior. But all of our functional saviors cannot save us. Jesus is the Savior we really need!  Our greatest need in this life and the life to come is to have our sins forgiven by trusting in Jesus as our Lord and Savior! Today, my wife shared her My Hope Testimony .   (RSS Subscribers: click here to watch the video) Missions:Together’s "Not a Competition" is a powerful missions gathering designed to re-ignite your passion for missions on Saturday, November 2, hosted at The Summit Church in Apex.
