Seminar Presentation, Mentors for Single Mothers, My Hope Sunday (Pastoral Emphasis for 2/24)

I want to remind everyone that there's a difference between the umbrella stands and the trash cans. We've found trash in the umbrella stands...including lottery tickets (that's probably a subject to address at a later date)!!

Thanks to all who attended yesterday's Theological Seminar on "How to Interpret the Bible". If you missed it, you can watch it from the archives on Zion Live. Also, you can download my presentation from here.

Ladies, we need mentors for single mothers. There was a brief informational meeting after church service today for those who are interested in becoming a mentor. If you missed the meeting and are interested, please follow-up with Minister Jacquelyn Harrison.

My Hope Sunday is 3/10. All of our members are asked to commit to inviting at least one unbeliever or unchurched person to join us at church on My Hope Sunday. During that service, we will share the hope we have in Jesus Christ. Take a commitment card and write down the name(s) of those you are committed to inviting. We will collect the commitment cards next Sunday, 3/3, to pray over the names. Also grab some invitation cards to invite your guests.

Today, we heard testimonies from members from Sister Pam Mosley and Brother Ellery Oliver.  Sis. Mosley shared how God has been with her from an early age especially when she was involved in a car accident.  Bro. Oliver shared that although he grew up in church, it wasn't until after he was married and his wife had been praying for him that he trusted in Christ.

Dress Code, Spreading the Gospel to Japan, Skits & Pizza (Pastoral Emphasis from 7/26)

Thanks to all who came out to the Church Family Meeting. Our focus is reach the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Even though we don't have a formal dress code at church, I think we have an unspoken one. Our guest may perceive a dress code based on what they see on the stage from leadership. So in order to remove any barriers that might prevent some from visiting us or feeling comfortable in our service, the leadership will dress a little more casual. We will try this out until the end of the year and then evaluate. So don't be surprised when you see me not wearing a tie! I shared the following email that we got via our website to show that we are spreading the Gospel worldwide. To God be the glory! Greetings Mt. Zion Church Family...Today is July 27, 2009 and I would like to share the blessing that I have received from your church. I was talking to my very dear sister, soror, friend Sis Brandi Hancock and she and I were having a heart to heart. I told her that I was

One Life Saved

The Bible declares that all life is valuable. "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well" (Psalm 139:13-14). Here's the story of one life saved....
