Bereavements, Happy Father's Day, VBS 2018 (Pastoral Emphasis for 6/17)

Please be in prayer for the families that are experiencing the following bereavements:
  • After a long battle with illness, Sis. Audrey Person has passed away. The funeral service will be held in Virginia on Tuesday.
  • Sister Brenda Hancock's mother (Minister Brandi Hancock's grandmother), Gladys Underwood, has passed away.
  • Minister Kevin Coppage's uncle, who had cancer, has passed away.
Happy Father's Day to all the dads! Fatherlessness is a big issue in our community but despite all the rhetoric about lack of fathers (especially black fathers), I praise God for the fathers in this church who are leading their families.

Similar to Mother's Day, I know that today can be tough for many if you've lost your father or desire to be father but that has not happened yet. May God comfort you. The biggest issue can be for those who did not have a good relationship with their father. Those wounds can last a very long time. But even when our earthly fathers fail us, we can trust and depend on our Heavenly Father. We have a Heavenly Father who will never leave or forsake His children.

My prayer is that fathers will strive to demonstrate (albeit imperfectly) unconditional love, grace, discipline, instruction to our children so that these concepts will not be foreign when we teach them about our Heavenly Father.

Have you registered for VBS yet? VBS is a family affair so bring the whole family. This year's theme is "Game On". Let's gear up for life's big game! God has given us His ultimate playbook. He wants us to join His team, train hard, celebrate salvation, and encourage one another. VBS will be each evening on 6/20-6/22 at 6:30pm. On Saturday, 6/23, starting at 9am, we'll do a VBS outreach, lunch, fellowship, and a movie. Then on Sunday, 6/24, we'll wrap up with a VBS Sunday School at 9am and have Food Trucks after the church service.

Mortgage Burning Ceremony (10.6.24)

Today is a day of celebration and gratitude as we come together to witness the burning of our church’s mortgage! This moment represents years of faith, commitment, and sacrificial giving from this congregation. It’s a testament to God’s faithfulness and the dedication of His people. What we are celebrating today is not just the end of a financial obligation, but the beginning of new possibilities for missions, outreach, and service in our community.   ---     Psalm 127:1 says, ‘Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.’   This building has been more than just bricks and mortar; it has been a spiritual home where so many lives have been touched by the gospel. We recognize that while we’ve paid off the mortgage, it is the Lord who has truly built this house, sustaining us through every season.   --- History of the Vision         Though this chapter is closing, the mission God has ...

My Hope Sunday, M:T Not a Competition, Prayer Gathering (Pastoral Emphasis for 10/13)

Today was My Hope Sunday ! We had several invited guests, and my message was from 1 Samuel 8:4-9 on "Looking for a Savior".  Israel wanted a king like the other nations who would “save” them. This is the very definition of a functional savior. A functional savior is anything or anyone a person looks to for ultimate hope, security, identity, or fulfillment in place of God. Whatever you look to to “save” you from your problems, fears, or insecurities is your functional savior. But all of our functional saviors cannot save us. Jesus is the Savior we really need!  Our greatest need in this life and the life to come is to have our sins forgiven by trusting in Jesus as our Lord and Savior! Today, my wife shared her My Hope Testimony .   (RSS Subscribers: click here to watch the video) Missions:Together’s "Not a Competition" is a powerful missions gathering designed to re-ignite your passion for missions on Saturday, November 2, hosted at The Summit Church in Apex.
