Holiday Extravaganza, A Very Jazzy Christmas, Holiday Schedule (Pastoral Emphasis for 12/11)

Evangelist Barry Singleton had gone to the hospital last week and at first they thought he had another heart attack but thankfully it turned out to just be a pulled muscle. He's back home resting.

We were so thrilled that Bro. Dominic Downing came to church today! It was truly a blessing so see how far God has brought him in his recovery! We give all the glory and praise to our God!

Don't forget the Christmas Holiday Extravaganza on 12/17 at 4pm. It will be an evening of worship, music, and sacred arts. Sovereign Grace Church in Apex will be hosting it. The admission "price" is a new unwrapped toy or Hurricane Matthew relief item. Get more details here.

Oak City Academy invites us to their school's Christmas program on 12/15 from 6 to 7:30pm.

CFCFC is having their annual Christmas musical entitled, "A Very Jazzy Christmas – an evening of live jazz". The concert will be held on Sunday, 12/18 at 6:00 PM at the Herb Young Community Center.

Please make note of our holiday schedule:
  • On Christmas, we'll be moving our service to 8am, and it will last to about 9:30am.  There will be no Sunday School.
  • There will be no Elder-led Prayer or Bible Study on Wednesday, 12/28
  • On 12/31, our New Year's Eve service starts at 10pm. After midnight, we'll celebrate the Lord's Supper. And we won't have our normal 10am service on New Year's Day.

As of Friday evening, the confirmed death toll in Texas has risen to 129, with at least 150 individuals still missing across the state. Our hearts are heavy, and we grieve for the lives lost and the families enduring unimaginable pain. One of the first things people tend to do is look for someone to blame. Was it the fault of the warning system not being early enough? Was it the fault of the government (state and federal)? Was it the fault of God? If God is so good, why do we suffer with natural disasters like flooding that takes the lives of seemingly innocent people like young children? The reality is that the fault lies with us. Humanity decided to rebel against the Creator God, thereby, ushering in sin and the fall from God's perfect creation. Natural disasters happen because we live in a fallen world ravaged by sin. Natural disasters like these floods are trag...
