Going Deep with God in Depression, 2017 Church Theme, Holiday Schedule (Pastoral Emphasis for 12/18)

On last Sunday, we praise God for the two individuals who rededicated their lives, the two young ladies who trusted in Christ, and Sis. Danielle Downing who joined the church. Today, we also praise God for the young lady (13 years old) who was baptized.  All Glory to God!

The Christmas season is not joyous for many people especially for some who struggle with depression. During the time, suicides increase. For some, depression can be triggered by a change in season. Even believers can suffer with depression. I want to offer some encouragement with this interview with Christian author, Randy Alcorn about Going Deep with God in Depression.

For additional resources, check out my sermon series on depression, Gospel Light in Deep Darkness. You can order the messages online or watch it from the archives on our website (end of August-September timeframe).

Our 2017 Church Theme is "Make Disciples: Helping Others To Follow Jesus". We will be focusing on strengthening your walk with Jesus and equipping you to share your faith and how to disciple others. For Bible Study, we will be using DisciplesPath, The Journey, a one-year intentional plan for discipleship. You will not want to miss it. Also, beginning in February, the lady's will have their own Women's Sunday School class on first Sundays.

Reminder: CFCFC is having their annual Christmas musical entitled, "A Very Jazzy Christmas – an evening of live jazz" today at 6:00 PM at the Herb Young Community Center.

Don't forgot our upcoming holiday schedule:
  • On Christmas, we'll be moving our service to 8am, and we'll end around 9:30am.
  • There will be no Elder-led Prayer or Bible Study on 12/28
  • On 12/31, our New Year's Eve service starts at 10pm. After midnight, we'll celebrate the Lord's Supper. And we won't have our normal 10am service on New Year's Day.
Thanks to Sis. Karen Gray for providing some Christmas treats, cookies & brownies, after service today.

Mortgage Burning Ceremony (10.6.24)

Today is a day of celebration and gratitude as we come together to witness the burning of our church’s mortgage! This moment represents years of faith, commitment, and sacrificial giving from this congregation. It’s a testament to God’s faithfulness and the dedication of His people. What we are celebrating today is not just the end of a financial obligation, but the beginning of new possibilities for missions, outreach, and service in our community.   ---     Psalm 127:1 says, ‘Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.’   This building has been more than just bricks and mortar; it has been a spiritual home where so many lives have been touched by the gospel. We recognize that while we’ve paid off the mortgage, it is the Lord who has truly built this house, sustaining us through every season.   --- History of the Vision         Though this chapter is closing, the mission God has ...

My Hope Sunday, M:T Not a Competition, Prayer Gathering (Pastoral Emphasis for 10/13)

Today was My Hope Sunday ! We had several invited guests, and my message was from 1 Samuel 8:4-9 on "Looking for a Savior".  Israel wanted a king like the other nations who would “save” them. This is the very definition of a functional savior. A functional savior is anything or anyone a person looks to for ultimate hope, security, identity, or fulfillment in place of God. Whatever you look to to “save” you from your problems, fears, or insecurities is your functional savior. But all of our functional saviors cannot save us. Jesus is the Savior we really need!  Our greatest need in this life and the life to come is to have our sins forgiven by trusting in Jesus as our Lord and Savior! Today, my wife shared her My Hope Testimony .   (RSS Subscribers: click here to watch the video) Missions:Together’s "Not a Competition" is a powerful missions gathering designed to re-ignite your passion for missions on Saturday, November 2, hosted at The Summit Church in Apex.
