Unity Walk in Cary, My Hope Sunday, NAMI Resources (Pastoral Emphasis for 10/2)

Please pray for Sis. Hattie Williams.  She had an accident which resulted in two broken ribs.  She is in a lot of pain so the doctors have given her pain medicine while she waits for her ribs to heal.  Please pray for a speedy recovery.

With all of the strife and division that is happening in communities across our country, there will be a very cool event happening in November.  Bro. Jimmy Clemons and Officer JB announced that there will be unity walk in Cary on 11/12.

My Hope Sunday is next Sunday, 10/9.  We will address the topic, "Why Does Bad Things Happen to Good People?"  All of our guests will hear the Gospel directed plainly towards them.   Afterwards, we'll have food trucks here for you to purchase lunch and fellowship with your guests and prayerfully engage in some gospel conversations.  This week, please follow-up with those you have invited.  And there's still time for you to invite people.  Invitation cards are available at the Welcome Center.  This week, I'm calling for a fast, primarily for My Hope as well as for the racial strife in our nation and our presidential election.  Also, pray and read the daily Scriptures on the back of the invitation card:

Evangelist Barry Singleton shared his testimony about how God has continually blessed his life through prostrate cancer and a heart attack.  Sis. Lachonya Williams shared her testimony about her mom passing due to breast cancer, how Jesus sustained her in her bereavement, and how that experience helped her share her faith with a co-worker who was losing her job.

Right after church today, AKA and NAMI presented Sharing Hope: Understanding Mental Health.  It was very informative to hear the testimonies and find out that there are resources available for families dealing with mental health issues.  For some information about NAMI in NC, check out their website and in Wake County.

Dress Code, Spreading the Gospel to Japan, Skits & Pizza (Pastoral Emphasis from 7/26)

Thanks to all who came out to the Church Family Meeting. Our focus is reach the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Even though we don't have a formal dress code at church, I think we have an unspoken one. Our guest may perceive a dress code based on what they see on the stage from leadership. So in order to remove any barriers that might prevent some from visiting us or feeling comfortable in our service, the leadership will dress a little more casual. We will try this out until the end of the year and then evaluate. So don't be surprised when you see me not wearing a tie! I shared the following email that we got via our website to show that we are spreading the Gospel worldwide. To God be the glory! Greetings Mt. Zion Church Family...Today is July 27, 2009 and I would like to share the blessing that I have received from your church. I was talking to my very dear sister, soror, friend Sis Brandi Hancock and she and I were having a heart to heart. I told her that I was

One Life Saved

The Bible declares that all life is valuable. "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well" (Psalm 139:13-14). Here's the story of one life saved....
