Speaking Engagements, Theological Seminar, Counseling Resource (Pastoral Emphasis for 9/11)

September is a busy month. Please pray for me as I have a couple of speaking engagements. I would definitely appreciate your support.

Prayer 2016 is 9/20 from 7-9pm at the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium. Don't forget to register as we only have a few seats remaining.

Next Sunday, 9/18, I will be preaching at Little Zion MB Church in Youngsville at 3pm for their Annual Homecoming Service.

Sunday, 9/25, I will be preaching at Christ First Christian Fellowship Center at 4pm for their Ushers/Greeters Anniversary. Minister Brandi Hancock will be the guest soloist.

Saturday, 9/24 is our next Theological Seminar from 9:00am to 11:15am. In a time when salvation is so individualized, how important is the church? Does membership in a church really matter? Walter Strickland, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, will be teaching on "The Doctrine of the Church". Come out and learn about this important topic. Light refreshments will be served. Please register for the seminar online.

My Hope Sunday is 10/9. All members are asked to commit to inviting at least one unbeliever/unchurched person to attend church with you. Commitment cards are available at the Welcome Center. We will collect them on September 25 to start praying for those you have committed to inviting. Invitation cards are now available and can be picked up at the Welcome Center.  Both, Bro. Calvin Gray and Sis. Decora Martin shared wonderful testimonies of their hope in Christ who has graciously delivered them from many things.

Thanks to all who gave today towards the love offering that will be donated to the Southern Baptist Convention Disaster Relief to help the Louisiana flood victims.

After today's sermon on "Finding Purpose in Depression", I recommended the Christian counseling group, BridgeHaven. I have met the executive director and have referred members to them in the past. I would highly recommend anyone who is struggling with depression to see them if they need to.

Dress Code, Spreading the Gospel to Japan, Skits & Pizza (Pastoral Emphasis from 7/26)

Thanks to all who came out to the Church Family Meeting. Our focus is reach the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Even though we don't have a formal dress code at church, I think we have an unspoken one. Our guest may perceive a dress code based on what they see on the stage from leadership. So in order to remove any barriers that might prevent some from visiting us or feeling comfortable in our service, the leadership will dress a little more casual. We will try this out until the end of the year and then evaluate. So don't be surprised when you see me not wearing a tie! I shared the following email that we got via our website to show that we are spreading the Gospel worldwide. To God be the glory! Greetings Mt. Zion Church Family...Today is July 27, 2009 and I would like to share the blessing that I have received from your church. I was talking to my very dear sister, soror, friend Sis Brandi Hancock and she and I were having a heart to heart. I told her that I was

One Life Saved

The Bible declares that all life is valuable. "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well" (Psalm 139:13-14). Here's the story of one life saved....
