Elder-Led Prayer, Sharing Hope: Understanding Mental Health (Pastoral Emphasis for 9/25)

Thanks to all who attended yesterday's Theological Seminar on "The Doctrine of the Church".  If you missed it, you should go watch it from our archives on the church website.  What really stood out to me was when Walter Strickland made the point in 1 Corinthians 3:16: "Do you not know that you (plural) are God's temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?"  We together (the church) are the temple of the Lord where the Spirit dwells.  So when we neglect to gather with the saints, we remove ourselves from the move of the Spirit!  We must prioritize not only attendance but membership in the local church.

Our next church-wide Elder-led Prayer is Wednesday from 6:00pm to 7:00pm.  Everyone is invited to join us as we focus on specific prayer needs.  If you are not able to attend but have prayer requests, you can submit them online.

We still have some booklets, Depression: The Way Up When You Are Down by Ed Welch available. Please see me if you'd like a copy.  Also, if you want the free eBook, "When the Darkness Will Not Lift" by John Piper, send me a message with your email address.

Next Sunday after church (around 1pm), AKA and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), we'll be presenting Sharing Hope: Understanding Mental Health.  The presentation will provide resources and testimonies from a person living with a mental health condition and a family member of a person with a mental health condition.  It will last about an hour with additional time for Q&A.

My Hope Sunday is 10/9.  All members are asked to commit to inviting at least one unbeliever/unchurched person to attend church with you.  Invitation cards are available at the Welcome Center.  People brought their commitment cards (or paper) with the names of those they are inviting to the altar and we prayed for those individuals.  If you didn't

Sis. Lois Arrington who will be 91 next month shared her testimony how God has been good to her throughout her long life.  She also shared some wisdom on taking care of your health and diet.

This afternoon, I preached at Christ First Christian Fellowship Center at 4pm for their Ushers/Greeters Anniversary.  I preached on Luke 19:11-27, "Engage in Kingdom Business Until Jesus Comes".  It was great time of fellowship as always with Pastor Snead and our brothers and sisters at CFCFC.

Mortgage Burning Ceremony (10.6.24)

Today is a day of celebration and gratitude as we come together to witness the burning of our church’s mortgage! This moment represents years of faith, commitment, and sacrificial giving from this congregation. It’s a testament to God’s faithfulness and the dedication of His people. What we are celebrating today is not just the end of a financial obligation, but the beginning of new possibilities for missions, outreach, and service in our community.   ---     Psalm 127:1 says, ‘Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.’   This building has been more than just bricks and mortar; it has been a spiritual home where so many lives have been touched by the gospel. We recognize that while we’ve paid off the mortgage, it is the Lord who has truly built this house, sustaining us through every season.   --- History of the Vision         Though this chapter is closing, the mission God has ...

My Hope Sunday, M:T Not a Competition, Prayer Gathering (Pastoral Emphasis for 10/13)

Today was My Hope Sunday ! We had several invited guests, and my message was from 1 Samuel 8:4-9 on "Looking for a Savior".  Israel wanted a king like the other nations who would “save” them. This is the very definition of a functional savior. A functional savior is anything or anyone a person looks to for ultimate hope, security, identity, or fulfillment in place of God. Whatever you look to to “save” you from your problems, fears, or insecurities is your functional savior. But all of our functional saviors cannot save us. Jesus is the Savior we really need!  Our greatest need in this life and the life to come is to have our sins forgiven by trusting in Jesus as our Lord and Savior! Today, my wife shared her My Hope Testimony .   (RSS Subscribers: click here to watch the video) Missions:Together’s "Not a Competition" is a powerful missions gathering designed to re-ignite your passion for missions on Saturday, November 2, hosted at The Summit Church in Apex.
