Prayer 2016, Gospel Light in Deep Darkness, Elder-Led Prayer (Pastoral Emphasis for 8/21)

Mark your calendar for Prayer 2016 on 9/20 from 7-9pm at the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium. Mt. Zion has 22 seats reserved. We'll have online registration available this week but if you want to reserve today, please contact with our coordinator, Sis. Sandra Broadwater.

Zone 4 members directed a service this afternoon at 2pm at Phoenix Assisted Care. The Fine Arts Ministry ministered and Bro. Jae Smith spoke on how to restore a relationship with God through faith in Jesus.

On next Sunday, we're starting a new series addressing depression, called "Gospel Light in Deep Darkness". This series will be for everyone: those who struggle with depression, those who love someone struggling with depression, and how people in the church can love, support, and help those struggling with depression.

Here are the topics that we'll cover in this series:
  • 8/28: Types & causes of depression; how depression feels
  • 9/04: Finding hope even when your soul is downcast; importance of fellowship, role of medication
  • 9/11: Finding purpose in depression
  • 9/18: How to fight for joy even when one is depressed; importance of family and friends
Pleases join us and invite others.  I'm also calling for a fast this week (Monday thru Saturday). Fast and pray for God to move mightily during this series and for those struggling with depression.

Everyone is invited to join us for Elder-led Prayer on Wednesday from 6:00pm to 7:00pm as we will focus on depression. If you have additional prayer requests, submit them online.

Minnesota School Shooting, Music Ministry Recruitment, Ark Encounter Trip (Pastoral Emphasis for 8/31)

Minnesota School Shooting Our hearts are heavy over the tragic school and church shooting in Minneapolis at Annunciation Catholic School, where two children lost their lives and many others—some as young as six—are recovering from serious injuries. Sadly, we couldn't get through a full week of traditional school before something like this happens. In this time of profound sorrow, let us hold close in prayer the grieving parents, families, and the entire Annunciation community. Though we cannot fully comprehend their pain, we can stand alongside them in faith, offering compassion, and intercession. May God bring comfort to those who mourn, healing to the wounded, and peace to a terrified community.  Of course, a mass shooting always brings up the issue for stricter gun laws. I agree we do need good legislation and sensible gun laws because it is the government's responsibility to protect its citizens. Ultimately, that will not solve our problem. For a country that has been ...
