VBS Registration, Congrats to Grads, 2016 JA Lewis Scholarship Winner (Pastoral Emphasis for 6/5)

Bereavement: Deaconess Shirley Smith's brother passed in Texas last week. Please be in prayer for Deaconess Smith and family during their time of bereavement.

Registration for VBS has begun and will continue through June 19th. VBS which will be June 22nd - 26th. We'll have classes on Thursday through Friday.  On Saturday, we'll go out to serve our community at With Love From Jesus and the Helen Wright Center.  On Sunday, we'll finish up our VBS class during the Sunday School hour, have church service, and then food trucks will be available for lunch.

Children's Day is next Sunday and our children will be leading the service. Normally we would acknowledge our High School graduates at that service but due to scheduling conflicts we recognized them today.

 
Congrats to our two graduates: Philip Credle and Braxton Payton.  Both will be going to college to further their education.

Braxton is also the 2016 recipient of the J.A. Lewis Scholarship. Braxton graduated with a GPA of 4.3.

Youth Sunday, J. Allen Lewis Scholarship Winners, A Word to Our Graduates (Pastoral Emphasis for 6/14)

  Today was Youth Sunday , where our children and youth were leading and participating in the worship service. Our children read scripture, prayed, sang, and ministered a fine arts piece. We heard a message from a youth speaker, Abigail Campbell, who encouraged us to work hard and leave the rest to God.  Celebrating Our Graduates We also recognized and celebrated all of our graduates. Whether you completed high school, earned a college degree, completed graduate studies, or achieved another educational milestone, we rejoice with you and thank God for your hard work and perseverance. We are also grateful for the impact of the Delta Academy and GEM programs , which have been meeting at Mt. Zion. We appreciate the investment these programs make in developing and encouraging young people, and we thank Ms. Daniel and Ms. Owens for their leadership and partnership. J.  Recently Came Forward We rejoice in sharing that Chris Walker has rededicated his life to Jesus Christ. What a wonderful reminder that God continues to pursue His people with grace and mercy.
