Responding to SCOTUS Rulings, New Sermon Series, Summer Giving (Pastoral Emphasis for 6/30)

Today's reading from the Chronological Reading Plan: 2 Chronicles 19-23

If you've paid attention to the recent Supreme Court rulings, you'll know that they struck down the DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act). And watch that in the near future, someone will sue a state where same-sex marriage is not legal which will lead to its legalization across the country. We live in perilous times but God is still in control.  Check out this bulletin insert for more details. Pray for our nation and most importantly let's spread the Gospel and make disciples!

This week, there will be NO Prayer & Testimony Service and Bible Study on Wednesday, July 3rd, and NO Bible Study on Thursday morning, July 4th. And we will not have Communion on next Sunday but on the second Sunday, July 14.

Mark your calendars for a couple of my speaking engagements. On 7/11, I'll be preaching at a revival in Wake Forest for Converting Hearts Ministries. On 7/14, I'll be preaching at Christian Revival Church in Apex for their Founders Day. Your support and especially prayers are greatly appreciated.

Starting in July and continuing through August, I'm preaching a series called "I AM" where we will look at the "I AM" statements of Jesus. This would be a great time to invite someone who needs to know more about Christ.

As we have entered into the summer season of vacations, I would like to encourage everyone to remember to be faithful in stewardship giving of tithe and offering to support the church ministries. Usually the months of June, July and August tend to be the lowest months of giving during the church year. Our faithfulness in giving is what enables us to continue to minister to our people and to share the gospel of Christ with the hurting world around us. I hope that you and your family enjoy some special vacation time together this summer and as you do, please remember to continue to support the work of the Lord here at Mt. Zion. Online Giving offers you the opportunity to continue to support our ministries even when you can't attend our services. Set up a Paypal account and you will be able to give even when you are out of town. You can access online giving by following this link: http://www.family.mtzioncary.org/home/online_giving.html

May God bless you as we 'worship Christ, spread the Gospel, and serve the Community' together.

Dress Code, Spreading the Gospel to Japan, Skits & Pizza (Pastoral Emphasis from 7/26)

Thanks to all who came out to the Church Family Meeting. Our focus is reach the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Even though we don't have a formal dress code at church, I think we have an unspoken one. Our guest may perceive a dress code based on what they see on the stage from leadership. So in order to remove any barriers that might prevent some from visiting us or feeling comfortable in our service, the leadership will dress a little more casual. We will try this out until the end of the year and then evaluate. So don't be surprised when you see me not wearing a tie! I shared the following email that we got via our website to show that we are spreading the Gospel worldwide. To God be the glory! Greetings Mt. Zion Church Family...Today is July 27, 2009 and I would like to share the blessing that I have received from your church. I was talking to my very dear sister, soror, friend Sis Brandi Hancock and she and I were having a heart to heart. I told her that I was

One Life Saved

The Bible declares that all life is valuable. "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well" (Psalm 139:13-14). Here's the story of one life saved....
