Flower Shuttle, Haiti Donations, Adopting West Cary Middle (Pastoral Emphasis from 2/7)

The Couples Ministry is partnering with The Flower Shuttle. This ministry reuses & repackages flowers left over from events to deliver to hospice, nursing homes, hospitals, meals on wheels, etc. We can help by donating mugs, small vases, and flower pots. The Couples Ministry will set up a table in the front near the welcome center to collect these items.

There's another opportunity to help Haiti. The Cary Church of God is serving as an authorized Operation Compassion Haiti Relief Donation Center for Eastern North Carolina. They will be receiving materials until 2/28. Starting this week we'll be collecting donations to drop off at Cary Church of God. Click here for the list of needed supplies. Fliers are also available at the Welcome Center.

Mt. Zion along with other area churches is adopting West Cary Middle School (WCM). We are looking for volunteers to help tutor, mentor, proctor exams, etc. If you are interested, please get a volunteer packet at the Welcome Center. Once you are ready to volunteer, please go to WCM's library and complete their background check and give Minister Amekuedi your completed paperwork. I ask that people complete this by 2/22.

A couple of weeks ago, we announced that Mt. Zion was going non-denominational. Our vision is to reach all people, especially those who are un-churched who may never come visit a Baptist church. Our love for people should trump any loyalty to a denomination. Our vision, culture, and direction is not changing. But I understand that people may have concerns or questions about this move, so please feel free to send me those questions. In addition to that, the elders and I will be putting together a document to address the common concerns.

Dress Code, Spreading the Gospel to Japan, Skits & Pizza (Pastoral Emphasis from 7/26)

Thanks to all who came out to the Church Family Meeting. Our focus is reach the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Even though we don't have a formal dress code at church, I think we have an unspoken one. Our guest may perceive a dress code based on what they see on the stage from leadership. So in order to remove any barriers that might prevent some from visiting us or feeling comfortable in our service, the leadership will dress a little more casual. We will try this out until the end of the year and then evaluate. So don't be surprised when you see me not wearing a tie! I shared the following email that we got via our website to show that we are spreading the Gospel worldwide. To God be the glory! Greetings Mt. Zion Church Family...Today is July 27, 2009 and I would like to share the blessing that I have received from your church. I was talking to my very dear sister, soror, friend Sis Brandi Hancock and she and I were having a heart to heart. I told her that I was

One Life Saved

The Bible declares that all life is valuable. "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well" (Psalm 139:13-14). Here's the story of one life saved....
