Men's Retreat, Quarterly Surveys, Our Trials are Not Always about Us (Pastoral Emphasis from 8/2)

We had a nice time at the Skits & Pizza event on Friday. The skits were performed by our children to some adults. The best part was some of the discussions about the skits (prosperity gospel, diversity in the church, overcoming that annoying sin in your life, and avoiding false accusations. Thanks to the College/Young Adult ministry for sponsoring.

All men who are planning to attend the Men's Retreat are asked to meet on tomorrow, August 3rd, at 6:30pm in the Multipurpose Room. Parents of the young men who will be attending the retreat should also be present for additional information and to sign permission slips.

All of the parents of teens should have received a letter about an important meeting on August 10th at 6:30pm to discuss some critical things in our Youth Ministry. I also want to extend an invitation to parents of 10-12 years old to attend as well in preparation for your children being a part of the Youth Ministry.

Mt. Zion would like to hear from you. We are going to be conducting brief quarterly surveys to get valuable feedback. Please visit the church's website and participate in the first survey which will run from August 2nd to August 31st. Also a link will be provided on the mailinglist, facebook, & twitter. Copies are also available at the Welcome Center.

Last Sunday, touched on that what we go through is not always about us but for God to demonstrate His power to those around us. I want to share this comment I saw on Facebook:

I learned something from Benjamin's Tumor. We prayed and anointed my son (then age 3 only 19 lbs with a 7 lb tumor). The doctors feared the worst - stated they doubted he would ever walk etc, but we prayed. Later the night after the surgery Ben was up and running around - with no pain! A Jewish nurse asked me about my God - and told me she was making fun of us earlier - ... But now we will see her in Glory! What I learned is this. Our sicknesses are not always about us - sometimes they are an instrument of God and we are the vessel. This is a documented healing in Philadelphia.

Mortgage Burning Ceremony (10.6.24)

Today is a day of celebration and gratitude as we come together to witness the burning of our church’s mortgage! This moment represents years of faith, commitment, and sacrificial giving from this congregation. It’s a testament to God’s faithfulness and the dedication of His people. What we are celebrating today is not just the end of a financial obligation, but the beginning of new possibilities for missions, outreach, and service in our community.   ---     Psalm 127:1 says, ‘Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.’   This building has been more than just bricks and mortar; it has been a spiritual home where so many lives have been touched by the gospel. We recognize that while we’ve paid off the mortgage, it is the Lord who has truly built this house, sustaining us through every season.   --- History of the Vision         Though this chapter is closing, the mission God has ...
