National Day of Prayer, Scholarship Time, Upcoming Fellowship Events (Pastoral Emphasis from 5/3)

Our next Bible Study series, "Prosperity and Faith," will begin on Wed., May 6th at 7:00pm. Everyone is invited to join us for this dynamic new series.

Thursday is the National Day of Prayer. I will be participating with other local pastors for a NDP service at First Baptist Church of Cary (downtown) at noon. If you are available, please come and pray with us.

Attention: Mt. Zion High School Seniors: Applications for the J. Allen Lewis Memorial Scholarship are available at the church office. Completed applications should be returned to the church office by Sunday, May 31, 2009.

Congrats to Sis. Faith Chilongo who will be getting her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology on May 9th!

Attention, Men: We invite all of you to join us for our quarterly Spring Prayer Breakfast on Saturday, May 9th at 8:00am in the Multipurpose Room. This will be a great opportunity to hear the Word and fellowship with your brothers in Christ. Come early so Doug and Mike don't eat up all the food!

Attention: Parents of Youth Ages 13-17! You don't want to miss "Drugs Uncovered: What Parents Need to Know!" presented by the Poe Health Center. This Adults Only interactive presentation and our Quarterly Parents' Meeting will be held on Monday, May 11th from 6:30pm to 9:00pm. Please sign up at the Welcome Center.

Attention, Ladies: Please sign up at the Welcome Center for our 'Spring Up and Clean Up' Fellowship on Friday, May 15th at 6:30pm. Please select a food item from the list and join the ladies for fun, fellowship, and spiritual nourishment.

Minnesota School Shooting, Music Ministry Recruitment, Ark Encounter Trip (Pastoral Emphasis for 8/31)

Minnesota School Shooting Our hearts are heavy over the tragic school and church shooting in Minneapolis at Annunciation Catholic School, where two children lost their lives and many others—some as young as six—are recovering from serious injuries. Sadly, we couldn't get through a full week of traditional school before something like this happens. In this time of profound sorrow, let us hold close in prayer the grieving parents, families, and the entire Annunciation community. Though we cannot fully comprehend their pain, we can stand alongside them in faith, offering compassion, and intercession. May God bring comfort to those who mourn, healing to the wounded, and peace to a terrified community.  Of course, a mass shooting always brings up the issue for stricter gun laws. I agree we do need good legislation and sensible gun laws because it is the government's responsibility to protect its citizens. Ultimately, that will not solve our problem.
