Men's Conference, Possum Cake (Pastoral Emphasis from 5/18)

Thursday morning Bible Study for this week is canceled due to the passing of Deacon Warmack's mother. Keep his family in your prayers during this time of bereavement.

The College Ministry is sponsoring a Movie Night on Friday, May 23rd at 7:30 p.m. We'll be watching a revealing video about some spiritual truths behind today's music and culture. Everyone is invited to join us.

For every ten men in church:
  • 9 will have children who leave the church
  • 8 will not find their jobs satisfying
  • 6 will pay the monthly minimums on their credit card bills
  • 5 will have a major problem with pornography
  • 4 will get divorced…affecting one million children each year
  • Only 1 will have a biblical worldview
  • All 10 will struggle to balance work and family
The answer does not lie in getting men to simply attend church or work in the church, but we must change men into disciples of Jesus Christ. The Men's Ministry is sponsoring the Man in the Mirror conference, "Rewired: From Performance to Passion," on June 13-14. I encourage every man to sign-up to attend this great event.

Sunday's love offering will be used to sow a seed into Elder Snead's new ministry. His vision is centered on the wholeness of the family. I, along with the other elders, officially anointed and commissioned Elder Snead for his new pastorate. His first service will be in June.

Sunday was my birthday and boy was I surprised with the birthday cake with the picture of a possum. Elder Harrison got me back for all the times I teased him about his cooking with possums. As if the possum cake wasn't bad enough, they put trick candles on the cake that I couldn't blow out. Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes and gifts. Everything was greatly appreciated...especially the chocolate!

Minnesota School Shooting, Music Ministry Recruitment, Ark Encounter Trip (Pastoral Emphasis for 8/31)

Minnesota School Shooting Our hearts are heavy over the tragic school and church shooting in Minneapolis at Annunciation Catholic School, where two children lost their lives and many others—some as young as six—are recovering from serious injuries. Sadly, we couldn't get through a full week of traditional school before something like this happens. In this time of profound sorrow, let us hold close in prayer the grieving parents, families, and the entire Annunciation community. Though we cannot fully comprehend their pain, we can stand alongside them in faith, offering compassion, and intercession. May God bring comfort to those who mourn, healing to the wounded, and peace to a terrified community.  Of course, a mass shooting always brings up the issue for stricter gun laws. I agree we do need good legislation and sensible gun laws because it is the government's responsibility to protect its citizens. Ultimately, that will not solve our problem. For a country that has been ...
