Meet Your Deacon Day, A New "Branch" of Zion (Pastoral Emphasis from 5/11)

Our deacons are responsible for serving and caring for our members so we want to make sure all members know who their deacon is. Next Sunday will be "Meet your Deacon" day. This meet and greet will be right after service in Adult Classroom #3 and the New Members classroom. Light refreshments will be served.

Our current Bible Study series is "Spiritual Warfare". The next series will deal with getting out of the pit. To prepare for the series, go ahead and get the book that we will be discussing, "Get Out of That Pit" by Beth Moore. You can buy a copy or check it out from the library.

This year's Children's Day celebration will be June 7th and 8th. We need volunteers to help on Saturday June 7th with the various activities we have planned for the children. A sign up sheet is located at the Welcome Center and the children's classrooms. Please help us make this a great time of learning and fun for our children.

How many men want their lives to stand for something when they die? Like me, I believe most men would like their lives to have stood for something. I have a passion for our men to be disciples of Jesus Christ. Only when your heart has been changed for Christ can you truly have a meaningful life. Performance, wealth, status, possessions just won't cut it. Our Man in the Mirror conference, "Rewired: From Performance to Passion," on June 13-14 is going to be a life-changing event. I'm going to be there...men, will I see you?

God is manifesting another part of His vision for us. Mt. Zion is expanding its territory. I'm pleased to announce that Elder Snead will be planting his own church (I believe the name will be Christ First Christian Family Center) in Cary. We want to support Elder Snead through continued fellowship, prayers, and financially. So next Sunday, our love offering will be used to sow a seed into his ministry. His vision is centered on the wholeness of the family. I believe in that vision as it truly lines up with ours. When families are healed and made whole, we'll see better communities.

Dress Code, Spreading the Gospel to Japan, Skits & Pizza (Pastoral Emphasis from 7/26)

Thanks to all who came out to the Church Family Meeting. Our focus is reach the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Even though we don't have a formal dress code at church, I think we have an unspoken one. Our guest may perceive a dress code based on what they see on the stage from leadership. So in order to remove any barriers that might prevent some from visiting us or feeling comfortable in our service, the leadership will dress a little more casual. We will try this out until the end of the year and then evaluate. So don't be surprised when you see me not wearing a tie! I shared the following email that we got via our website to show that we are spreading the Gospel worldwide. To God be the glory! Greetings Mt. Zion Church Family...Today is July 27, 2009 and I would like to share the blessing that I have received from your church. I was talking to my very dear sister, soror, friend Sis Brandi Hancock and she and I were having a heart to heart. I told her that I was

One Life Saved

The Bible declares that all life is valuable. "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well" (Psalm 139:13-14). Here's the story of one life saved....
