Verse by Verse Challenge: Help Translate the Bible for the Oma People

Today, we are launching a transformative initiative and partnership with Pioneer Bible Translators—the Verse by Verse Challenge. Our mission is to translate the Gospel of Mark into a language that can touch the hearts of the Oma people, an unreached group in Southeast Asia.

Who Are the Oma?

  • The Oma people, a group of over 1 million, live in two countries in Mainland Southeast Asia.
  • Most are farmers, and rice is their main crop. They take pride in their Buddhist heritage, but recent political turmoil is stirring curiosity about faith and spirituality. God is working through these events to prepare the Oma people to hear the Good News.
  • There is a small but growing group of Oma Christians, but they lack access to a modern Bible in their native language.

How Can You Help?

  • Sponsor a verse for $35 to help us translate two or more chapters of Mark’s Gospel.
  • Donations can be made through the Love Offering with the note "Verse by Verse."
  • Our goal is to equip the Oma with God’s Word and provide discipleship and leadership training for their church.

Challenge Timeline: Now through 12/15.

Let’s come together to bring the Good News to the Oma people and empower them to share God’s Word with their communities.

---

As we approach the holidays, let’s be intentional about making an impact—both within our community and around the world. I look forward to seeing you at these events and joining hands with you in these efforts to share God’s love and truth.

Minnesota School Shooting, Music Ministry Recruitment, Ark Encounter Trip (Pastoral Emphasis for 8/31)

Minnesota School Shooting Our hearts are heavy over the tragic school and church shooting in Minneapolis at Annunciation Catholic School, where two children lost their lives and many others—some as young as six—are recovering from serious injuries. Sadly, we couldn't get through a full week of traditional school before something like this happens. In this time of profound sorrow, let us hold close in prayer the grieving parents, families, and the entire Annunciation community. Though we cannot fully comprehend their pain, we can stand alongside them in faith, offering compassion, and intercession. May God bring comfort to those who mourn, healing to the wounded, and peace to a terrified community.  Of course, a mass shooting always brings up the issue for stricter gun laws. I agree we do need good legislation and sensible gun laws because it is the government's responsibility to protect its citizens. Ultimately, that will not solve our problem. For a country that has been ...
