Durham Rescue Mission, Initial Sermon, Prayer Rally (Pastoral Emphasis for 3/19)

Today, we concluded our EQUIP Conference during the worship service with a mini-sermon and a Q&A panel with the conference speakers (including Jae Smith, Sandra Broadwater, Tina Wyche, Kelly Smith, and Lydia Amekuedi).

We welcome the following people who recently joined the church:
  • Lisa Atkins - Joined on Christian Experience
  • Tyrell Brassfield - Joined & Trusted Christ as Personal Savior

We have an opportunity to outside the walls of the church to serve at the Durham Rescue Mission on April 7th. It’s coordinated by Oneness Couples Ministry, but anyone is invited to volunteer. This is the Rescue Mission’s annual Easter event for the community to serve meals, distribute care items, and give Easter baskets to the children. We are limited to 30 spots. Please see Deaconess Rhonda Spivey with any questions.

Next Sunday at 4pm, Minister Tony Scott will be giving his initial sermon at Mt. Zion. Everyone is invited to come out to support our brother and to hear the Word of God.

Our next Church-Wide Prayer Rally is Tuesday, 3/21, from 7 to 8pm. The Praise Team will be hosting. Join us for an hour of corporate prayer.

The EQUIP Conference was a great setup for our next sermon series starting next Sunday entitled "Witnesses for Christ".

Minnesota School Shooting, Music Ministry Recruitment, Ark Encounter Trip (Pastoral Emphasis for 8/31)

Minnesota School Shooting Our hearts are heavy over the tragic school and church shooting in Minneapolis at Annunciation Catholic School, where two children lost their lives and many others—some as young as six—are recovering from serious injuries. Sadly, we couldn't get through a full week of traditional school before something like this happens. In this time of profound sorrow, let us hold close in prayer the grieving parents, families, and the entire Annunciation community. Though we cannot fully comprehend their pain, we can stand alongside them in faith, offering compassion, and intercession. May God bring comfort to those who mourn, healing to the wounded, and peace to a terrified community.  Of course, a mass shooting always brings up the issue for stricter gun laws. I agree we do need good legislation and sensible gun laws because it is the government's responsibility to protect its citizens. Ultimately, that will not solve our problem. For a country that has been ...
