Happy Mother's Day, Dating Backwards, Food Drive (Pastoral Emphasis for 5/10)

With our theme of Being a House of Prayer, we're having a pastoral prayer every Sunday. We'll have a different topic to pray for each month led by an elder. May's prayer topic is Discipleship (our walk with Jesus and making disciples). Today, Elder Bobby Dunn read Galatians 3:1-5 and 1 Cor 12:1-11 and led us in prayerful dependence on the Spirit of God.

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms and spiritual moms. We thank God for you. But we should also recognize that today can be hard for those who have lost their mothers, those moms who have lost children, and those who desire to be moms but it has not happened.  May God comfort and strengthen you on what can be a difficult day.  Also, I want to remind all women that your identity is not found in motherhood but in Jesus Christ. Being a mother is not what gives you worth. Being a "super-mom" is not what gives you worth. It's having a relationship with Jesus that brings worth.

Join us for our upcoming Theological Seminar, "Dating Backwards", on Saturday, May 16th, at 9:00 am on WebEx. This seminar will equip people with understanding dating, relationships, and sex from culturally relevant and biblical perspectives. Typically, relationships fail because the order is wrong, the physical is placed above the spiritual, which often leads to heartache and frustration. In this session, we’ll learn how to identify unhealthy patterns, establish healthy rhythms, and date in a way that leads to commitment. Pastor Jerome Gay, Jr. of Vision Church will be our speaker. Please register at https://bit.ly/mzcseminar.

We are starting a new food drive to help those students and families who have been impacted by the pandemic and the school building closing. The drive will run from May 11 through May 30. Please drop off non-perishable items at the church during the drop-off times: Mondays, Wednesdays 6- 7pm; Saturdays 10am-12pm.

Minnesota School Shooting, Music Ministry Recruitment, Ark Encounter Trip (Pastoral Emphasis for 8/31)

Minnesota School Shooting Our hearts are heavy over the tragic school and church shooting in Minneapolis at Annunciation Catholic School, where two children lost their lives and many others—some as young as six—are recovering from serious injuries. Sadly, we couldn't get through a full week of traditional school before something like this happens. In this time of profound sorrow, let us hold close in prayer the grieving parents, families, and the entire Annunciation community. Though we cannot fully comprehend their pain, we can stand alongside them in faith, offering compassion, and intercession. May God bring comfort to those who mourn, healing to the wounded, and peace to a terrified community.  Of course, a mass shooting always brings up the issue for stricter gun laws. I agree we do need good legislation and sensible gun laws because it is the government's responsibility to protect its citizens. Ultimately, that will not solve our problem. For a country that has been ...
