Spring Spruce Up Stats, Church Family Meeting, Preaching at New Dimensions (Pastoral Emphasis for 4/28)

We praise God for all the youth that led us in worship for Youth Sunday. Young Bro. Darish Jacobs gave a wonderful message on the topic "No Matter the Age, Imitate Christ".

Thanks to everyone who participated in Saturday's Spring Spruce Up.
  • We had 36 members, 2 visitors, and 17 from leadership
  • The Zone breakdown...Zone 1: 8; Zone 2: 6; Zone 3: 3; Zone 4: 17
  • A total of 70 hours and 8 minutes was spent cleaning
  • For a grand savings of $5,180.00 for our combined efforts to clean our church ourselves.
After the service, we had our Church Family Meeting. From the meeting...
  • We welcomed new Deaconesses: Josephine Singleton, Junève Toche, and Theresa Vinson.
  • The role of deaconess is open to any qualified woman. She does not have to be married to a deacon, minister, or elder to serve as a deaconess.
  • If anyone does not feel comfortable asking a question or expressing a concern during the family meeting, please submit them to the elders. And everyone is welcome to come to one of our Elders Meeting to discuss.
  • Youth Ministry Changes: It's our desire to disciple and prepare our youth to grow spiritually as they transition to young adults. Part of that is to get them ready to worship in the regular service. The Youth Ministry will be implementing a new 2nd Sunday only gathering time (during worship service) that will replace their current 2nd and 3rd Sunday Youth Services. On the 2nd Sunday, they will be Digging Deeper to discuss the biblical messages received from the Sundays while they were in service. The 4th Sunday Youth Service will still remain intact and the Youth Group Sessions, during the Foundation Fellowship time slot (9:00am- 9:45am). This change is proposed to take effect on July 1st. But there will have a parent meeting on Sunday, June 2 after service to answer questions and address concerns.
Later at 5pm, I, accompanied by the Praise Team, preached at New Dimensions for their 15th church anniversary. I preached from Numbers 9:15-23 on the topic "Move When God Moves". The message was well received. I also presented Pastor Wright from the Mt. Zion Church Family with a plaque in memory of his mother who passed away a year ago.

Responding to the Flooding, Christmas in July Food Drive, New Sermon Series (Pastoral Emphasis for 7/13)

Responding to the Flooding All of us are painfully aware of the devastating flooding that struck our nation recently. As of Friday evening, the confirmed death toll in Texas has risen to 129, with at least 150 individuals still missing across the state. Our hearts are heavy, and we grieve for the lives lost and the families enduring unimaginable pain. One of the first things people tend to do is look for someone to blame. Was it the fault of the warning system not being early enough? Was it the fault of the government (state and federal)? Was it the fault of God? If God is so good, why do we suffer with natural disasters like flooding that takes the lives of seemingly innocent people like young children? The reality is that the fault lies with us. Humanity decided to rebel against the Creator God, thereby, ushering in sin and the fall from God's perfect creation. Natural disasters happen because we live in a fallen world ravaged by sin. Natural disasters like these floods are trag...

Minnesota School Shooting, Music Ministry Recruitment, Ark Encounter Trip (Pastoral Emphasis for 8/31)

Minnesota School Shooting Our hearts are heavy over the tragic school and church shooting in Minneapolis at Annunciation Catholic School, where two children lost their lives and many others—some as young as six—are recovering from serious injuries. Sadly, we couldn't get through a full week of traditional school before something like this happens. In this time of profound sorrow, let us hold close in prayer the grieving parents, families, and the entire Annunciation community. Though we cannot fully comprehend their pain, we can stand alongside them in faith, offering compassion, and intercession. May God bring comfort to those who mourn, healing to the wounded, and peace to a terrified community.  Of course, a mass shooting always brings up the issue for stricter gun laws. I agree we do need good legislation and sensible gun laws because it is the government's responsibility to protect its citizens. Ultimately, that will not solve our problem. For a country that has been ...
