Bereavements, Stay Warm Drive, Share the Wounded Series (Pastoral Emphasis for 12/16)

Even though this is a joyous time of the year, let's not forget that this season can be tough for many people especially those who have recently lost loved ones. Let's be in prayer for the following who are grieving the recent loss of a loved one:
  • Deaconess Susan Fortenberry – loss of sister
  • Bro. Ellery Oliver – loss of grandfather
  • Bro. Travis Anderson – loss of grandmother
Thanks for your donations to the Devoted Disciples' coats, hats, gloves, scarves, and socks "Stay Warm" drive. We were able to donate from the drive to the Holiday Extravaganza that will go to help people in Wilmington, NC who were affected by the hurricane. But you can continue to bring your donations until December 23rd which will go to help people in our local area.

Today, we concluded our Wounded series by addressing how the Gospel heals those wounded by sexual assault. My prayer is that God would use this series to help people start their journey towards healing and a healthy sexuality that honors God. If you know of anyone who would benefit from the series, please let them know that they can order the series or watch online from the archives on Zion Live. Again, here are the dates for the messages of the series:
  • 11/18 – Don't Misuse God's Gift of Sex (How the Gospel heals those sexually wounded by fornication & adultery)
  • 11/25 – The Dangers of Marriage Without Sex (How the Gospel heals those sexually wounded by sexless marriages)
  • 12/02 – Keep Your Eyes Pure (How the Gospel heals those sexually wounded by pornography)
  • 12/09 – BONUS: Overcoming Sexual Temptation
  • 12/16 – Grace For Your Disgrace (How the Gospel heals those sexually wounded by assault & rape)

Dress Code, Spreading the Gospel to Japan, Skits & Pizza (Pastoral Emphasis from 7/26)

Thanks to all who came out to the Church Family Meeting. Our focus is reach the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Even though we don't have a formal dress code at church, I think we have an unspoken one. Our guest may perceive a dress code based on what they see on the stage from leadership. So in order to remove any barriers that might prevent some from visiting us or feeling comfortable in our service, the leadership will dress a little more casual. We will try this out until the end of the year and then evaluate. So don't be surprised when you see me not wearing a tie! I shared the following email that we got via our website to show that we are spreading the Gospel worldwide. To God be the glory! Greetings Mt. Zion Church Family...Today is July 27, 2009 and I would like to share the blessing that I have received from your church. I was talking to my very dear sister, soror, friend Sis Brandi Hancock and she and I were having a heart to heart. I told her that I was

One Life Saved

The Bible declares that all life is valuable. "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well" (Psalm 139:13-14). Here's the story of one life saved....
