Seminar Recording, Mission Triangle, Back to School Prayer (Pastoral Emphasis for 8/26)

Thank you all for your prayers and condolences on the passing of my wife's mother.  Just as others within our church are grieving the loss of parent or other family members, let's continue to pray for each other.  As we grieve, we'll need the prayer support in the coming weeks, months, and even years.

If you missed yesterday's Theological Seminar on the Assurance of Salvation, I would HIGHLY recommend that you watch the recording on Zion Live. Dr. Dwayne Milioni did an fantastic job teaching us about Biblical perseverance.

Due to the Labor Day weekend, we will not have Communion next Sunday but on the second Sunday.

On 9/9, several churches are coming together for a community outreach and prayer rally at Cary Towne Center in honor of 9/11. Starting at 2pm, there will be games and activities for the entire family. The prayer rally will start at 4pm. There will be singing featuring a mass Gospel choir and prayer for our community, our leaders, our 1st Responders, and our nation. There will also be a Gospel presentation. Here are ways that you can participate:
  • Invite: Invite people, especially nonbelievers. Tell them this is in honor of 9/11. We have flyers available at the Welcome Center.
  • Serve: Volunteer to serve at the community outreach. There are plenty of areas (arts & crafts, food, hospitality, games, etc) where you can serve.  Click here to volunteer!
  • Pray: Pray that many will come out and people will be saved and get plugged into a local church.
Tomorrow, traditional school starts back so we had a Back to School Prayer for all kids from preschool to college.  I also had the dads present to anoint their kids.  We prayed that God would protect our kids and enable them to study and do very well this school year.

Dress Code, Spreading the Gospel to Japan, Skits & Pizza (Pastoral Emphasis from 7/26)

Thanks to all who came out to the Church Family Meeting. Our focus is reach the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Even though we don't have a formal dress code at church, I think we have an unspoken one. Our guest may perceive a dress code based on what they see on the stage from leadership. So in order to remove any barriers that might prevent some from visiting us or feeling comfortable in our service, the leadership will dress a little more casual. We will try this out until the end of the year and then evaluate. So don't be surprised when you see me not wearing a tie! I shared the following email that we got via our website to show that we are spreading the Gospel worldwide. To God be the glory! Greetings Mt. Zion Church Family...Today is July 27, 2009 and I would like to share the blessing that I have received from your church. I was talking to my very dear sister, soror, friend Sis Brandi Hancock and she and I were having a heart to heart. I told her that I was

One Life Saved

The Bible declares that all life is valuable. "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well" (Psalm 139:13-14). Here's the story of one life saved....
