Blood Drive, The Hidden Hand of God, Partnering with OCA (Pastoral Emphasis for 4/24)

On Saturday, April 30th, from 9:00am - 2:00pm, Mt. Zion is partnering with the Deltas and the Omegas to collect 40 pints of blood for a blood drive. Sign up today to donate at 1800-Red Cross or www.redcrossblood.org. Use sponsor code: Mt. Zion.  See Sister Tracy Downing for more information or grab a flyer at the Welcome Center.

We live in a culture that is increasingly hostile against God and His Word. Many want to ignore the Bible by saying that it was written by man. As Christians, we must be equipped to addressed some of the objections and questions about the Bible.  Join us for our upcoming FREE theological seminar on Saturday, May 7th, from 9:00am to 11:15am. Dr. Ben Merkle, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, will be teaching on "How We Got the Bible & Why It Can Be Trusted." Come out and learn about this important topic. Light refreshments will be served. Please register for the seminar online.

Next Sunday, we're starting a new sermon series on the book of Esther called "The Hidden Hand of God".  God is not mentioned at all in the book of Esther (the other is the Song of Solomon) but He is there orchestrating all of the events. I'm really looking forward to digging into this book. Join us and bring somebody with you.

We had our Church Family Meeting right after the service today. Danny Breed, the headmaster of Oak City Academy, gave us an update on what's happening at the school as well as ways that we can partner with them.  They are looking for a group of volunteers to help set up an art gala for the students on May 13th and for an OCA-Mt. Zion Liaison who can help the church stay informed about what the Lord is doing at OCA.

Dress Code, Spreading the Gospel to Japan, Skits & Pizza (Pastoral Emphasis from 7/26)

Thanks to all who came out to the Church Family Meeting. Our focus is reach the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Even though we don't have a formal dress code at church, I think we have an unspoken one. Our guest may perceive a dress code based on what they see on the stage from leadership. So in order to remove any barriers that might prevent some from visiting us or feeling comfortable in our service, the leadership will dress a little more casual. We will try this out until the end of the year and then evaluate. So don't be surprised when you see me not wearing a tie! I shared the following email that we got via our website to show that we are spreading the Gospel worldwide. To God be the glory! Greetings Mt. Zion Church Family...Today is July 27, 2009 and I would like to share the blessing that I have received from your church. I was talking to my very dear sister, soror, friend Sis Brandi Hancock and she and I were having a heart to heart. I told her that I was

One Life Saved

The Bible declares that all life is valuable. "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well" (Psalm 139:13-14). Here's the story of one life saved....
